Ok so i just finished replacing my balance shaft belt, i drive it and when i checked the teeth on my balance shaft belt were missing. I dont know how but it just shaved off. Can i just drive my car without that belt? its a 90 4g63 nt.

I cut mine after It broke, and made my main timing belt skip two teeth on the gears. Its said not to unless you remove the rear shaft also, I haven't got around to do that yet.

i would replace it personally. that would just be one more excuse for these cars to fail haha but i have a gates racing kevlar bs belt and its worked great so far. you will def notice more vibrations without that belt though

ha i know i know ill get around to it. just in the middle of a move right now so i just gotta get it runnin so i can relocate it, then the balance shafts will be thrown somewhere deep in the woods where God himself couldnt find them ever again. worthless hunk of metal LOL

well im pretty much done with mine. just have to put the case back on, then the oil pan, put the crank sprocket back on, timing belt and tensioner on, then drop it in the car and ill be on the road raisin 10 kinds of hell

yea thats all great guys but my main question! is can i drive my car without that belt? will it leave me on the street to walk home? I can put up with the vibrations as long as it runs. thing is,its a daily driven.

No you can not, you have to have the belt on and if it shaved the teeth clean off then you had an install error. Replace it or remove the balance shaft.

i agree with the about poster, don't run without the belt. Def not since it's a dd. maybe just home would be fine slowly
whats dd? so what would happen if i drove it like that? also is there a site or anyone who can explain in pics step by step how to install the belt. i dont know how to take that metal plate that separates the timing belt and the balance shaft belt off. thanks

ok i have a question... if you turn on your car and off allot without the balance shaft belt is that bad? not moving the car just turning the engine on and off. also can you mess up the balance shafts?

I cut my shaft belt, and just left the shaft in until I can remove the rear shaft. I'm not telling you what to do. I cut my belt, and didn't have any major problems with vibrations, or anything for six months or so.
