I was wondering if I can convert my AWD in to a rear wheel drive planning to build a small drift car

Well.... hopefully you have an LSD rear diff to start with.... It isn't the greatest for drifting, but whatever. You would need to have the transmission taken apart, have the center differential welded first. Then regarding the front axles, you will need to put dummy cups in the front hubs so they don't separate on you, and then with the trans at the front diff you could remove the front diff and ring gear, keep the output pinion shaft installed and remove the axle seals and then do a 54mm freeze plug for the left axle, and 56mm for right axle to fit in the case and seal them up.

Just remember, if you intend on putting any real power through this, you better be upgrading some of the components, like the output shaft, driveshaft, rear axles, rear diff cover, rear diff mounting components, rear subframe to diff bushings, etc.

Echo'd. I used to be interested in this possibility, until I realized it was way easier to just buy a cheap RWD chassis to start with. Biggest concern for me was the amplified power output to the rear. In AWD format, the power is distributed between the front and rear wheels. Without the front, 100% of the power goes to the rear, and the stock differentials are not capable of withstanding this power. There are stories of people blowing the stock rear differentials at 300hp doing this conversion. The proper way to do it would be to swap in a 3000gt rear end, but the rear subframe mounting solution for that differential is pricey.
Not only that, but our cars aren't really designed to drift. The chassis is pretty soft, considerably more soft than something like an Evo. DSMs are great in straight lines, not sideways. Welding the center differential and capping the front axles is the least-expensive route to take, but you'll still be spending a lot to make sure the chassis can handle the power output. One thing that I think goes unsaid is the orientation of our engines. In this solution, you still keep the engine mounted transverse. When going sideways, I'd be pretty worried about oil sloshing to one side of the engine. Paired with inherent 4g63 flaws that encourage crank walk, I'm not sure how well some serious sideways action and clutch kicking are going to bode for the motor. Just buy a RWD platform to start-off, it's WAY easier. Take it from someone who was in the EXACT same boat as you.
