1G I need help CEL on.

My car starts runs for 30 +/- seconds then the check engine light comes on and it dies has dun this since I bought it. The other day we threw a can of sea foam in the gas tank with sum new gas (### it sat for a while) and it started up idled fine and I drove it for about 5 minutes with no check engine light issues. I parked it went back the next day to start it started the light came on and it died again. The previous owner replaced the plugs, wires, and air filter. Anybody have any ideas as to what the problem could be?

how much seafoam did you use? your only supposed to use 1/3 of it in your tank. you probably fried your plugs and clogged your injectors.

Unplug the injector harness and try starting it. It should start up after a few seconds of cranking but idle very rough. While it's idling, plug the injector harness back in.

I know this sounds stupid but check your battery terminals. Make sure they are clean and connected well. I had the exact same problem and it was b/c my negative was just a little to dirty and loose.

How about reading the code to see what the ECU is trying to tell you is wrong. If you don't get a code or the heartbeat at the pin on the diagnostic connector the ECU could be bad from the capacitors leaking.

You should check the ECU in any case.

+1 on the ECU check mine did it twice then I cleaned the Prongs and rewrapped the loose wires in Electrical tape and was good to goo!! Now my crank sensors shot!! Gotta love the DSMs!!!

thats not the first time we've used a full can of sea foam in the tank though. weve used a full can on my dd, my dads dd, and my moms dd and they all run fine. but why would it fry my injectors? and would a corroded(sp?) battery terminal throw a code? we are getting a code reader from napa here in the near future to figure out exactly what the problems are

A DSM code reader can be as simple as an analog voltmeter. If your going to spend more than $10 and it's just got the DSM get a datalogger. You can also use a piezo buzzer or 12v LED from radio shack to read the codes.
