about that top speed thing you guys were tlaking about....when i first bought my NT it was 13k into a fresh engine. Clutch was also 2k old. i took it all the way to 139MPH before the needle stopped moving and the car wasnt gonna go any faster. then about 4 months lata i finally needed a tranny rebuild (tranny had 115,000 miles on it) and when i got my car back and put about 3k miles on it i decided it was time to do a top speed run again, so i took her out and i hit 133MPH and the needle started bouncing and wasnt going any further, so what the hell is the deal with that? 139 on the factory transmission and 133 on the rebuilt transmission...could they have put in a 5th gear that isnt as long? dont know bout that one. after i put the turbo on my car i took her out yet again for a top speed run and yet again bounced at 133 (although i got to that speed a whole hell of a lot quicker...woot woot for turbo) so who knows? and as far as your really modded NT compared to his totally stock NT that has nothing to do with TOP speed. Only thing that makes a difference when it comes to that is how long your 5th gear is. it is true that a well modded engine could handle the stress of a longer 5th gear better than an unmodded engine, but thats not really the case here.

yea I dont think that the power makes the diference in the speed.
cuz for example Mc Laren has about 500 HP and it goes over 250 mls/h
and and there are all this high modifiesd Supras and Skylines,Vipers that have more then 800 HP that wont be able to go over 200mls/h so i gess the power is not the factor here.May be is the trany as u said maybe is someting else.

Agreed. Ignore me. NT Eclipses make excellent daily drivers. My advice is save up $1500 and buy and old, beat up GSX to race. Racing an N/T... I had a friend who sank 8 grand into a N/T Eclipse and could just barely outrun a stock GS-T.

Your friend must have wasted a lot of cash if he spent 8 grand and could barely beat a stock gst when he could have spent around 3 grand and bought a hahnracecraft stage 2 turbo system and be over 2 seconds faster than a stock gst in the quarter mile. and speaking of spending a lot of cash how much money did you spend to get that much "wheel Horsepower" in your gsx.

hey genius ever consider it might have been a 1g nt which doesn't have a bolt on turbo kit available for it like the 2g's do??

not to be a dick but the 1G NT does have a bolt on turbo kit, i actually posted the link in the NT turbo conversion forum. TSI makes a 1G turbo kit in two stages for 1700 and 2500 dollars american...just letting you know.

yea saw the link. looked to be a very and i mean very simple kit. it's essentially the same thing supergoat did but with this one you get a t25 and it costs more. not hardly what i call bolt on for the low dollar version. make sure to get pics of exactly what they send you when your friend's kit comes in. i'm dying to see this one size fits all turbo kit they have.

do cams and cam gears...once you do intake, exhaust and headers do the cams and cam gears...you'll be around 190...a little short of a stock gst or gsx...might just be up to the driver then. cams and cam gears will be about $1200 so start saving

dam man you must be buying the most expensive cam gears made (which isn't really a bad thing since that's a very important area) to hit $1200. that'd be almost $600 dollars in cam gears if you got the hks cams along with them.OMG

Just to add, my turbo "kit" cost me around $800, and it has a better turbo and works just like stock...because it is. It was also about $550 less than the cheapest option from Pro Street industries and I got more stuff with it too. :D

And yes I've heard of people getting a stock turbo "kit" for even less than my $800, but my "kit" included EVERYTHING to make it 100% fabrication free. A true bolt on. :D

I also agree that $1200 for cams and cam gears is a lot. However when tuned right(cam gears) they can definitly be worth it.

Yea your right, 1700 for the base kit is fairly expensive....but i think 2500 for the advanced kit is well priced, u get a brand new turbo with exhuast manifold, FMIC, injectors, injector control unit (basically an IRP), all needed fuel maps, all plubming....and all of it is new and designed to fit your car...most of the time when you do a DIY conversion you have to rely on the parts that are available and most of the time those parts are used. My friend who was ordering the kit changed his mind and hes gonna wait till he has enough money to buy the advanced kit so when he gets the money and gets the kit..ill be sure to have him get some pics.

Blueheat23.
There are possiblities with the top speed problem. 1) The Ambient air temperature is hotter outside you won't make as much power as you're use to. 2) If the Barometric pressure is lower, you wont make as much power. 3) If you are driving into the wind there is an excessive amount of drag on the chassis, especially if you have a rear spoiler. 4) If you got a turbo transmission with a closer and lower top end gear ratio you won't get the greater top speed, which might explain why you caught top speed faster then you expected.
With a combination of these factors you would be surprised at the amount of "speed" you lose.
