ok i've made this account on behalf of my fiance', who is currently incarcerated. i'll be totally honest with ya'll, i know absolutely nothing about cars. he has a 91 talon tsi, and is a pretty damn good mechanic, but he taught himself everything he knows. while he's in jail, he wants to take the opportunity to learn more and more, and so its on me to try to find the information for him. could someone help me with some of this? this is the current list of what he wants to know :

manual 5speed transmission gear ratios
final differential gear ratios
weight of the car
what model turbo came factory on the car
compressor housing mod
turbo housing mod
factory tire size

engine speficications
air flow specifications
suspension specifications (spring rate)
fuel system specifications
weight distribution (front to rear, left to right, and each corner)

he's also asked me to find him a dyno sheet for factory 90-94 tsi and a diagram of vacuum diag.

please help me out here with any of this if you can, i am so lost! i've been searching and searching online forever and cant seem to find any of this, and then i bumped into this page today and felt like it was a god send. also, can you recommend any good books that he'd enjoy about this stuff? he gets awfully bored in there...

thank you so so so so much! :)

the stock turbo is called a 14b pushing 10-11 lbs of boost stock
a tsi means its awd, if he doesnt know that it may be a little helpful.
Its a 91 so theres a chance it has a eprom ecu in it, and tell him
thats the desired ecu of these cars because of their easier tuned.

His awd gear ratios i believe are =
1st=3.083
2nd=1.684
3rd=1.115
4th=0.833
5th=0.666
Final (Transfer)
3.866(1.090)

This may help some with info on the car=

Also He may not need the repair manuals yet since he wont be fixing anything yet, but if i were you id print like every important page on this site, even whats in the forums, and escpecially tech info, until you made him a little book and then send it to him and im sure he'd rather read everything going on in this forum than in the haynes repair manual.... I dont know just a suggestion.
(of course if you have the paper to spare to print all this stuff out, and im not 100 percent positive
that people wouldnt mind you printing everything in the forums there talking about, but i think you at least should be able to print from the tech guide and all those pages. May want to verify that one. )

A TSi means T=Turbo S=Sport I=Intercooled or Injection

The Tsi is also available in a FWD version too ;)

(Although the TSi name is arguable because the Eagle Vision came in a TSi model and it was not turbo-charged :rolleyes: )

Maybe T=Touring

Any comments?

thank you everyone so so so much, i've been lost trying to find information myself. :) you're all sweethearts. sorry i didnt reply sooner, i've been sick and not on the computer so much. but thanks again!:D :D

ok i just have to say thank you again, now that i just went thru all the links ya'll gave me. steve's going to be so happy with me LOL. :)

oh and i wanna say just for the record, i'm the one that has no clue about cars. he's actually really good with his talon, when we got it the uh top head (i'm trying to remember all this right) was screwed up so he got a full engine/turbo out of a junk yard that had a good top but bad bottom and then we got a bunch of stuff (i dont remember what i just know it cost a lot LOL) and in our driveway, using a swingset to pull the engine in and out, he took em both apart and put it back together with the good parts and it runs great. he needs to get a new turbo now, though. thing is, why he wants all this info, is that he's just naturally talented with engines, he basically guessed his way through a lot of it with that car, and btw it worked out great it runs really smooth. now he just wants to learn every detail, and in there he definitely needs some entertainment. so thank you so much for your help. :) take care
