i think your expecting way too much out of a non turbo POS. shouldve saved and bought the right one so you could hear all the honduh people cry...."you already have a turbo and its alot easier for you to make power". so sell it while it still runs and get a turbo with the 5speed.

i think your right. I didn't really have a choice at the time, my dad bought this for me for 3,000 since then i have added a new transmission, motor mounts, ignition wires, plugs, tires and hubcaps (it came missing one LOL so i bought 4 new mitsu ones). At least it isnt the 1.8L so i kinda got lucky there. Even so though the Honda has 127 horses while this is rated at 135. I'm looking to get a new car in march or around there. Hopefully the 2003 eclipse GTS is better than this :)

i agree with insane. you should have saved the money and got a turbo DSM. dsm's require ALOT of love and attention to own and i know i wouldn't dump all that time and money into something that wasn't a turbo.

i wouldnt waste my money on one of those either, just to be spanked by an EVO. get a WRX, they are about the same price, but turbo awd. remember, even though you have 140 some horsepower, you weigh 660-700 pounds more than a honuh, which is ALOT when you are tryin to accelerate. you would have to race on the highway and go above 95, where a regular (cx, dx, ex...) honduhs last two gears only make it slow down.

i have an auto so its not like i have a choice to rev it so high. When i floor it thats what it does. I have to step on the gas 3/4 down for it to actually have decent pick up. I drove a 97 mirage with 92 horsepower and it had more kick than this!!

My camaro had a problem like that when it was leaking tranny fluid. I'd check that

Well, ditto, I had my DSM for 3 months now, prolly a big mistake in hindsight performance and reliability wise, based on my limited experience, the stack of repair reciepts from the original 1 owner, (having owned several hondas, I almost cried when I went through these receipts) and the money I spent so far in 3 months, I think for what you're going to spend on the car over the years, (witness this entire forum), you might save money in the long run if you start off with an Acura NSX--no foolin- around here you can pick up a used NSX from 15K and up. You'll save a truckload of dough if you could be happy with just an accord or prelude, plus, you'll get some respect from your girlfriend.

Why would a DSM'er want an Acura NSX when all he would have to do is a few mods to smoke an expensive azz car? They're not all they are cracked up to be. These cars are for professionals and enthusiasts. If you can't/don't want to learn how to work on a car then no...it's not for you. But just because we choose to put our own hard work and thought into our own machine instead of letting someone else put it together for us, doesn't mean we didn't think it through when we purchased it. I knew exactly the reliability problem i was getting into when I purchased this car. I knew by physics, common sense, and experience that if you race your car...we'll fact is you're going to break something..have reliability problems sooner or later. If you need an Acura NSX, or Honda DAWG to impress your girlfriend and get respect, then you have more self-confidence problems than we do my friend. Perhaps it's time to find a less materialistic woman, and start using your brain if you're going to try and drive the piss out of a non-turbo and think you're not going to have to do anything to it. Common fact...manufacturers rarely build vehicles that are meant to be driven the hell out of them. Physics? Well if you stress something long enough...it's going to break.

Just my 2cents

i don't race with my car. I'm talking about regular driving here. I had to literally floor it to keep up with her. I shutter to think if i ever race my car what would happen. It would probably blow up. I floored it on the highway and it is such a disgrace. ugh i hate this car :( you guys with turbos are probably livin it up

I love my car San...
The GS is a 17 second car...it's made for economy driving. There ARE things you can do to it that will make it faster. But yes...with a GS you will ultimately end up dumping more money into it to even get to par with a turbo model. I have a friend that tunes a GS model and he's had hell with it...like other thou he is adamant about selling it. I respect him for that because he understands the workload he is taking on. The DSM's IMO are not a reliable daily driver unless maintained a little more than your usual car.
If you do want to go faster, and you want to keep your car..it's going to cost money. What you are experiencing now is some kind of problem because your car should be a bit faster than that. Yeah...I really pissed off my friend with the GS when I smoked him in my old Geo Storm GSi, so no it's not going to get much faster. If you are not racing your car and just looking for a little more power there are options.
Sell it, get a turbo model if daily driving power is really that much more important.
Keep the GS add an Intake, CAI, ECM upgrade, shift kit, cams, and Hi-power ignition system and advance the timing a little. That will add some power but don't expect turbo capabilities.
OR
The Ultimate upgrade...a Hahn racecraft turbo upgrade kit. This involves alot of work I'm sure, I can't speak from experience. The cost is about 2000.00 if I remember right.

I would take the first option myself, but if you're not ready to go through the hassel of selling your car and getting a new one perhaps a step by step upgrade is what you're looking for. Carefully study the tuning list on this website for an NT (non-turbo) and see what you have available.

Best of luck.

My Talon is a babe magnet for sure, but at age 48, I don't have much in common with teeners. I don't how owning it could boost my self-confidence, I certainly have low confidence in the car for my upcoming cross-country drive---how many tools and spare parts would I have to carry in the trunk?
Yeah, you're going to learn a lot about repairing cars if you have a Mitsu, plus you're going to do a lot of repetitive repairs in which you learn nothing. Having owned 34 cars already, most of what I learned about the Mitsu doesn't impress me.
but, If you need to hang out at the drag strip, spend thousands & thousands of dollars to run 1/4 mile a few seconds faster in front of others to boost your self confidence, the DSMs are for you.

Hey, I understand. I hate spending money on regular junk when I really wnat to buy stuff that makes me faster. I would strongly recomend an intake and exhaust. Improving the flow of air through the motor will always improve performance, a flat torque curve from free airflow is what will kill your girlfriends civic.:dsm:

I have a 92 A/T talon 2.0L non-turbo, basic stock and i smoked a 2000 cavalier,,i guess dsm A/T non-turbos, are not bad at all to keep up with most stock non-turbo cars if u tweaked your engine a little bit with a few mods... im planning on adding injen filter system kit and headers this summer and hopefully would find improvements in HP.:D ,,, too bad though, i got smoked by a late 80's bmw 325ix last time,,,i guess he was driving a standard and all wheel drive... but it wasent that bad at least im just 2 cars behind him:p

ok i recently bought new shocks for my awd 2g with gr2s and some eibach sportlines and my car feels like #@%#@%#@%#@% when i hit a bump the car sways side to side and iam running out of ideas please someone help and it feels like i have no sway bars:mad:

Sorry to hear that man. I think its because of the GR-2's...they are equivilent to stock shocks so they dont work well with the drop of sportlines. Try some adjustable shocks like AGX's or Illuminas. I dunno about the car swaying from side to side but i think the shocks are probably the problem.

My friend has eibach pro spring kit as well as their camber kit and hes running GR2's on his although he has suspension techniques sway bars Front and Rear. The car rides like a brick with no side to side motion.

I have a gvr4 with 550s, 2.5 turbo back, 2gmani, big16g, fmic, denso pump, safc, and 2gmas. My car feels slow to me, I burn more oil in a oil change then i put in it to start with. It doesn't leak and the motor seems good, 170psi across board(reworked head).
I am looking at ditching the big 16g, and i'm looking at 20G's, mutt ete 32's and agp l1r's. So far everyone i have talked to said the turbos with the modified internal wg is sufficient. So which turbo would you guys go with if you were me. I know my exhaust needs upgrading but will I be sufficating it very much? Other then my exhaust, will my other mods be sufficient enough for the setup? If i could get 350 at the wheels on pump gas I be happy.
Lastly, will I have to get different cams or will stockers be ok, if so, i reckon the HKS 264/272 would be fine.
Marc

you should be able to get that with the 16g and a little bit bigger exhaust. have you run a datalogger on it to see were there maybe a problem with the tuning?

Yes, i do have a pocketlogger, and have tuned it, but i need to get me a egt to get a finer tune.

Well, tuesday i took my car in because of a leak. 2 days later here i am. First they said they were gonna fix the leak and give it back today. Today i called and they said there was a crack on my transmission or something. They said they ordered a part that could fix it, and it would cost about 900 to fix, they also said it could be a bigger problem that could cost 2000+ to fix. Damn i hate my car, had it for 9 months nothing but problems. sorry just had to vent.

Welcome to the world of dsm's hate to say it but one you start tinkering you will never stop having problems my clutch went out 1 month after i got my car and nothing but problems since well just the damn tranny but now that thing is so screwed i have no 2nd or 3rd and almost no 4th hopefully when i get my new tranny i have no more problems
