Getting back on topic. It is possible to solve this problem without a AFPR along the lines that kazzam was pursuing.

On the 3/S platform Mitsubishi had an issue with the pump overrunning the stock regulator. What they did was lower the fuel pump voltage under low loads by putting a resistor inline and having the ECU switch a relay to bypass the resistor when the normal voltage/flow rate was needed. One could do something along these lines with a suitable pressure switch or custom ECU programming using the likely unused BCS output.

This method has it's drawbacks over a simple AFPR but it can be done.

that makes sence. Tell me this. Without using an unused BCS output or getting a programable something to switch the relay, is there anything else that can be used to trigger the relay? I was thinking, since boost control on an ebc is activated when turbo hits boost, couldn't that be used as the trigger to start supplying the higher voltage to the pump? Afcoarse, this would only work if the ebc solonoid is getting a consistent electrical current rather then bursts.
Do you think that is theoreticaly possible? Does anyone on here know what kind of signal does the ebc sending unit send to the solonoid? I have the profec-b spec II. I dont' think i would ever attempt such an experiment, but hypotheicaly, it is an interesting point. It could possibly save people close to $200.

WOW!! An AFPR is worth it's price for the additional tuning it offers. Sometimes a couple of psi more will eliminate knock or allow a psi or 2 of additional boost.
Go fast bolt ons seem to be very popular, controlling them with the proper equiptment for the sake of expense makes no sense. I am not a cheap DSM'er. I also have been blessed with enough extra cash to have tried 4 turbo's and invested around 20k to have the car the way I like it. I bought an MAF-T/Walbro-255/Scanmaster/Wideband/EPROM-ECUw/DSMchoip/EGT gauge. protect your investment and get the most out of it at the same time. Chill out, be honest, enjoy the day and your ride.

A Hobbs switch is a pressure activated switch that will complete an electrical circuit but this is like Steve said possible however not really practical when a simple AFPR will do the job it was designed to do. So much easier! Mark
