Hey, I have an oil leak and today I spotted it. The only problem I have is I dont know what the part leaking is. To explain the location, it is directly under all the belts under the car right above the little brass piece that kinda looks like a small wastegate or something. It looks like it is a gasket or seal or something. I dont know that much about the car. Does anyone know what could possibly be leaking in this area, and how much it would cost to fix? It is leaking really bad!

if you are slid underneath the car head first from the front of the car and looking up, it is to your left of the oil filter.

i took a coupe pics with my friends camera phone, but forgot to get them off onto here. I will try and get them on. what could be leaking from that area? I know its not the oil filter. but something right around there. looks like a bolt that is right under the belts.

I'm still having problem picturing whereyou're talking about, picture would help. I have no idea what's going on.

Yeah I can't think of where you're talking about either...picture would be very helpful...

I think this is what you're talking about. You can take it off and put some thread sealant on there or just get a new one from the dealership.

sometimes thread sealent isnt the best to use on those because those sensors are grounded through the treads, but im sure you wont experience any problems if you do though just take out the plugs or sensors or whatever is leaking clean the threads and use some liquid sealer like rtv sealent i would stay away from the tape like thread sealer, you most likely wouldnt be able to get a ground with that.

How did you remove your oil cooler were the filter goes on. and what did you do with the lines that come from it.
Thanks

The oil cooler? I thought you were asking about the pressure sender in your earlier post. Anyway, I just left the coolant lines on there. I think you'll need a 24mm (I think) deep socket to get the part that the filter threads on off. Once you get that off, the cooler part comes off and there's a rubber filter that sits behind it. Mine wasn't sealing well from years of use so I bought some cheap gasket material and cut out a circle to put under the old gasket. A new one from Mitsu is only 4.26 (MD620908). If you take the bracket off, you'll need a new bracket gasket too (MD185528). That's only 2.43. -Drew

the leak on my car is coming 2iches right above the pressure sender thing from a bolt of some sort, look like the bottom of the engine. What is that called?

Here's a picture of my oil filter bracket. Feel free to draw a big circle on what bolt you are talking about. I'm sure it's only one of the dozen that are near there so draw freely.
