I ####ed up [wrong oil]

Ok, I was changing my oil and put in 5W-20 with a pint of Marvel instead of 5W-30 with half a pint...is everything gonna be okay or am I ####ed? This is with a 98 non turbo.

You'll be fine, just drain the oil and start over again.

I think ring sealer is nothing more than really high viscosity oil. The high viscosity should average out the 5W-20 into 10W-30 if logic rules the universe.

No, drain it and put some cheap 10W30 in it. You can substitute a half quart of Lucas Oil Treatment in place of regular oil if this engine is old, loose and burning oil, etc..

But never leave marvel in there, much less with really thin oil. That's a really thin concoction.

If that motor is old and warn, thicker oil works better, not thinner. And the marvel is going to thin the oil even more. Isn't marvel supposed to be put in right before you change it? Not after you put the new oil in?

The mix currently in there is:

4 qts of 10W-20
.5 qts of 10W-30
.5 qts of Marvel
.5 qts of 40W.
15 fl of ring seal that wont cause foaming

the ring seal package says that if we add to the pan fully filled, we are in no danger of overfilling. Im only half a quart over, so I think Im okay...

Im gonna redo the change tommorrow. I just need to get thru the day without engine failure.

my car just had a head job done, (dont be perverts) and i recently drained all my oil and put 10w-20 oil in it. Quaker State 75,000 High Mileage oil. will that be fine?
