Tonight my car starting puking oil on the ground, and I could NOT figure out where it came from. I searched my engine bay high and low. The oil got on my turbo, my downpipe, my o2 housing, my exhaust manifold, and the front of my block.

This is the weird thing...i think anyway. i know that one of the exhaust manifold studs has been loose for a while. I looked for it, and it is gone. This is the ONLY thing I could find different. Now, I am thinking there is no way in hell that there is an oil passage behind the thing. Is this even remotely possible? I am so damn confused right now as to where this oil could be coming from.

Where else on the front of the block could oil be coming from. I have ruled out...turbo oil feed and return lines. Both are bone dry. Oil filter and filter housing are clean as a whistle. The head is clean, the valve cover is clean, but it almost looks like there is oil coming out of the stud hole. Can anyone shed some light on this situation?

Let me guess. Middle, bottom exhaust manifold stud?

I WIN!

It's actually part of the head drain system. If you go under boost and have a little blow-by, the extra air will like to leak out there and take the oil with it and cover the front of your engine with oil.

Fix it and goodluck.

Wow, Ding ding we definitely have a winner. I appreciate the response. I honestly would have never thought it was possible. Thank you.

No problem. Either get a new stud, re-tap it for a new stud or heli-coil it for a new stud in the worst case scenario.
