Hey Guys just got the Galant VR-4 together last week, decided to take a trip to the race track just to see where the car sits on 25Psi. I am limited to 25psi because the IDCs are at 92-93% AFRs are at 11.8-12.0 timing is at 21-22* (E85) degrees, base fuel pressure set to 45-46psi to try to have IDCs somewhat under control.

It was really tricky figuring out how to launch on 195 economy tires, Had to mess with the 2 step and try various settings in link to get a launch I was finally happy with.

Anyways here is the time slip(Time is on the right)/video/ and some pictures of the car.

In a few weeks I am going to go back on 1450cc, walbro 400 and 30-33psi Hopefully can get the car into Mid 11s (which is my goal for it and then just have fun with the car)

Good job man! Does that electric cutout provide much of a performance gain?

Nice times , family car sleeper...did you fall asleep at the tree..hahah
Lol! It was the last run for the day before the track closed, i was trying to nail the launch as good as i could!

Honestly besides going by the butt dyno, my only hard evidence is the data logs, with the dump open link estimates 470-490hp, with it closed it estimated 410-430. I wanted to make a pass with it closed but i was scared if the excessive back pressure would cause higher EGTs

Yeah that 2g maf is holding you back bad. I picked up almost 100whp on my HY35 going to a maft from a hacked 2g maf.

Same boat over here. Once at COBB TUNING SURGLINE I only made 280hp, they told me "i woulda made more power on a smaller turbo, and that the mass air flow sensor cant keep up with the flow and its seriously sacraficing my tune"

I went home and swapped from a 2G maf to a 3.5" GM. That was my only change. Came back to the same dyno shop and made 370hp

mitsu maf = poopy

Yea good times for the big boat. My walbro 400 just crapped out a couple days ago im guessing it was the e85 , you might want to look out for that.
Hmm thats strange, how much miles did you put on your 400? I have had one on my 3000GT for over 1 year now on E85, still working like the day I bought it.

Hmm, So far I have ran an 11.2@125 shifting like a grandma in my 1G dsm, still using a 2G maf and mafclamp feature with a Omni 4bar sensor.

btw bastarddsm, hacking the 2G maf is a horrible idea, I used to have a hacked on when i switched to a good 2G maf it worked great felt like i picked up 80 wheel LOL

With all that being said anybody know the record for a 2G mafed car?

Id say about 7 months. It was working fine then one day the car died on me while doing some tuning i tried to turn on the pump thru link and didnt come on, I tapped the sending unit and it came on but it sounded horrible got me home then the pump wouldnt turn on at all. I had to put the stock one on. Who knows maybe something was wrong with it.

By hacked do you mean all the honey combs gone? Or just a select few? On mine all the honey combs were gone.

Gotcha, Thats probably why mine sucked, it had 0 honey combs.

Anyways, little update guys, Installed the 1550CC injectors/walbro 400LPH. Car is at 30psi with 74% idcs AFRs in 11.8-11.9 range. Car feels great! Just waiting for the next test and tune! Hopefully I can reach my goal of mid 11s!

Car started breaking up at 6K with plug gap at .025 on the NGK BPR7ES and accel 8mm wires. I switch to Magnecor Wires off my talon and BPR8ES, seemed to fix everything, not sure if the plug is too cold tho.

Nice numbers! Your setup is almost identical to mine as well which makes me happy :) I plan on running around 25psi on pump gas and trying to dip the car into the 11s which i dont see being a problem with a good tune since my 1g is a good bit ligher than your gvr4!

Car looks good and runs good you should have a fun car there sir!!

Went to the track today, since adding bigger injectors/bigger pump, Car is at 28psi, traction in 1st gear is starting to get really hard to find! :(

Got 5 passes in best 60 foot I got was a 1.760 and thats when it went 11.7@120 @28psi.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQuHiX38jCg

I upped the boost to 30-31psi managed to trap 122 but traction was almost non existent in 1st ended up running a 12.0. Might have to look into some thing to help me with getting some kind of traction in 1st gear as soon as boost comes on top of 1st it spins/wheel hops.

I may need to do that! Only problem is i run dsm link v2 so i dont have the boost by gear luxary! :(

I thought about dropping tire pressure from 30 to 20 but wasnt sure how safe that is on street tires.
