My buddy thats knows his shit about dsm's says its the way to go, But I'm just double checkin...


Basically stock AWD tsi....it'll be pushin 16psi or so sometimes....

I sell Clutches for about 15 years and i can to say there is no clutch better tahn exedy.

I have a friend with the act for sale for like 100 dollars....to answer that question...

What is exedy's equivalent to the 2600? the cerametallic?

I dont know if I can find that for 100 dollars....

This clutch combo is 80 dollars for the 2g plate, 100 for my friends pressure plate...and whatever for stock bearings....

So if I can get a 2600 equivalent Exedy for roughly 200, Id be on that.

I find Exedy one of the worst clutches to get... i got a stage2 exedy ceramic and it chatters like crazy i basicly have to rev really high in order for it to move smooth at 1st gear. I'm doin my clutch over with maybe a ACT2600 with pro disk or Centerforce dual friction, i havent made a decision yet.

I have an Exedy clutch and love it. Getting a ceramic clutch will chatter due to its "grabby" bite. I knew this and opted the best of both worlds. I got me the Twin friction disk from Exedy. One side is Ceramic pucks and the other side is organic. The organic side (Street disk style) helps with the slippage needed for smooth engagement while just dumping the clutch will make it really bite. I have AWD and launching without slipping the clutch will make me brake my tranny. I would rather have a ceramic clutch over the super strong pressure plate that act offers due to thrust bearing failure. Me being a 2G I have to think about the possibility of inducing crankwalk or the failure of the bearings. Having either a ceramic clutch or a strong pressure plate will yield the same benefit.... To put the power to the wheels. I rather replace my flywheel due to the extra wear the ceramic causes than to have more severe engine wear due to added pressure on the crank. In the begining it chattered but after the brake in period, I can get it as smooth as stock. The best part is while flooring it, I can also get neck snapping shifts. My next setup I want to try the 2100lbs act pressure plate with this twin friction disk. The pressure plate I have now is 1940lbs. If Exedy makes a 2100 than Exedy would be my first choice.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to the FSM, isn't the stock PP 1900lbs?

The stock pressure plate has a holding clamp force of 1400lbs. According to Exedy the 1940lb pressure plate has 26% more holding power over stock. The stock clutch could not handle any type of launching. This clutch takes abuse.

Well since crankwalk is an issue with 7 Bolt DSM's Than I think that I might always chose an agressive material rather than stonger or more clamping force. Thats the case with the clutch disk I have installed, it may wear into the flywheel (Ceremetallic), but the other side does the same as a regular clutch (Organic)so it won't wear down the pressure plate. Maybe thats good in my case. I got best of both. Though I know its not certain as to the cause of the dreaded "Crankwalk" but most people agree that stronger pressure on the crank is one probable cause. Just my .02 cents as to something we might want to think about if we want to try and prevent it and one of the steps towards prevention (in our minds) is not to get a stronger pressure plate Clutch.
