I was trying to find information on swapping in a turbo auto into my 92 GS now that the trans died. Now I would assume that it would bolt right up to the engine however I'm more worried about different connectors, and mainly different driveshafts. I.E. different spline count/dia. also the turbo cars have the extended horizontal shaft.

Or would I be better off just converting over to manual and be rid of the auto trannies. This is my beater car to get around when I'm working on my gsx and being that I have already put to much money into it, I figured why not spend a bit more. :thumb:

It'll probably be too much of a pain in the butt.

You'll DEFINITELY have to get the Turbo's: torque converter w/the 4 small bolts, flexplate w/spacers, and the transmission mount.

You'll PROBABLY need the Turbo's: Axles, and the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) w'plugs (there are 3, you only have 2). For the TCU you'll have to cut your current TCU's plugs and solder the new TCU plugs onto those wires. Trust me, it sux.

I Did ALL of this when I converted my '90 Automatic non-turbo to an FULL '91 Turbo Automatic. But I also have infinite patience to match my electronics background. So if you don't have electrical/soldering experience then I HIGHLY suggest that you Don't do this.

Hope this helps. :talon:

Yeah thats what I kind of figured, granted things may be different on a 92 car however I am all but certain I need different driveshafts, and I wouldn't doubt there would be differences between the TCUs so nevertheless I think I will just change it over to manual.

I've read the vfaq on it a few times and really it doesn't look to hard. And I found a local donor car so I guess I have a new project.

And at least manual don't just die unlike the auto did, heres how it happened. Drove to work just fine, parked car, shut it off, then I go back within a 5 minutes to more the car, put it in reverse and it does the little forward lurch thing and its done for.

Yeah needless to say I was real impressed.
