Does anyone have a guide or any info on how to do it? I need to replace mine but no idea how. How hard is doing this?

go by a chilton manual it will help with a lot of thing if you cant find one for a talon buy one for an eclipse they are pretty much the same car

Just go look at it. If you can't figure it out in 5 minutes, take it to someone else to have it done. It's really not that difficult. A word of advice though, pulling the driverside rad fan makes it a whole lot easier to get to.

Just find yourself a service manual from a local parts store. It will make it a whole lot easier to work on your car. I used to think everything was so hard but once you start doing things it gets easy.

I am with you on that one. Things are a lot harder when you are just there staring at it, then when you actually start getting your hands dirty.

With the Haynes or Chilton manual it should be fairly easy. Unfortunately without being able to perform some of the minor service on these vehicle the labor costs will burn a hole in your pocket.

Here is the way I did it:

Disconnected the battery
removed the a/c fan (3 bolts i belive)
the wire harness clip to the a/c fan
on the alternator there is a bolt that is holding it on to a sliding braket, remove that.
now you should be able to remove the belt.
there is a long bolt on the bottom facing the firewall, (12mm i believe), remove that
remove the alternator and just work your way back.

When you want to get your belt tight, after you have it back on there and ALL of the bolts in place, re-loosen the bolt on the top sliding bracket, use a large screwdriver and use it to push the alternator as close to you as you can, then tighten that bolt back, and your belt will not squel.
