Hey i was searching around and could not find a good guide.

I am fairly good at most jobs on a car just need help getting started on some.

I havent delt with coilovers with on a car yet so im just looking for a guide to what does what and how to.

when i bought my car it was slammed about 3 inches off the ground. i do like it lowered but cant get onto lifts or a dyno so i need to raise it before i get it running again.

does anybody have mesurments to follow for a semi stock ride height untill i get it tuned and off the lifts i need to go on?

heres some pictures the first two are what i started with and the second two are what i adjusted a bit to what i think they should be around (they could be way off)

what do the 3 adjusters at the bottom that you need the special tool for i think the top two are for spring tension and the bottom one is to lock your ride height just wanted to verify

i have d2 racing coilovers also

You should have gotten the wrench to raise or lower. You cannot go any higher than the spring that's in there. If the spring is a 2 inch drop you cant go any higher than a 2 inch drop.

Do you see those rings there at the bottom of the springs.Those turn, they are there for height adjustment.

Remember after adjusting suspension, you need an alignment and making the spring shorter, will make the ride a tad stiffer depending on how much lower you go.
 
yeah i know about the alignment and stuff the springs literally you could move up and down a inch or so and i thought the two top rings were spring tension and should be touching the coil so it doesnt move but isnt compressed.

remember i am only driving this about 50 miles untill i have it corner balanced and aligned just need to get on the dyno and the in ground lift at my work.

do the bottom 2 pictures look more so as they should be?
 
No..None of them are in line with eachother.Meaning none appear to be adjusted the same as far as ride height goes..

I would like to know myself if this has to be done on some vehicles.Or as I'm assuming, they should be adjusted the same? I'm going with logic but just wanted to check.
 
oh no thats a misunderstanding

the first two are what the front a rear looked like when i took off my wheels

the last 2 pictures are the front are rear the way i adjusted them ( i will adjust the other side equally) just the basic distance of thread showing higher ride height and the springs tensioned barley in place
 
Not as in the front and rear are supposed to be the same height..As in I thought I was looking at all 4 shocks.That's what I was meaning.Not this is front, this is rear..4 pictures so I assumed all 4 shocks.
 
The best thing to do is raise the car by the lower adjustment and not the spring. You will have to take the shocks out to do this though. Loosen the bottom lock ring and spin the bottom part counter clockwise. This will give you height adjustment while keeping maximum spring travel.
 
Do what Red Devil said. The lower shock bodies are probably threaded, you turn it depending if you want higher or lower, to do this you will have to loosen the lower locking ring and take the coil over off the knuckle. I wouldn't adjust any of the locking rings with the springs.
 
to anyone that runs across this post, Red Devil is only partially correct. You will need both wrenches that come with the coil overs, and you can buy these aftermarket as well. You loosen the bottom ring and turn coil over by the top ring to raise or lower it. You do not have to remove any bolts to do so.

In other words, the coil overs are adjusted while still in the vehicle. There are a ton of videos to show you how to do this.
