How to plug hole

I bottomed out and put a hole in my lower ic pipe. Used electric tape to cover it worked for liek a week till it broke through. What is a permant fix?Its a pretty large hole like 1 inch long by quarter inch wide.

Take it off, bring it to an exhaust shop and have them weld it.

Or you could go the cheap way, and buy a piece of exhaust pipe from pepboys or something, use some tinsnips to cut/trim it like a patch, and jb-weld it over the hole.

Best advise is definitely to weld, but if you live in a place that does not have access to a welder close or time is a factor and you need it now, you could simply patch the hole by using a strait piece of coupler and two tbolt clamps.

id do the rubber coupler over pipe method for temporary fix

but when you get a chance, take it down to a muffler shop and have them weld it up. and maybe ask if they can cut another piece of pipe in half and weld it over the current pipe on the bottom, so you have a double thick pipe on the bottom.
