how to pick the right amp

i got 2 kicker comp 12's in a box each with their own chamber. i dont want to over power. i guess the main thing, do i go for monoblock? 2 channel? whats the difference. how much RMS is a good number to stick with.

an easy way is to take the power of the woofer for example, (300 watts) and if since you have 2 i would say get a 2 channel amp, add both wattage's of you woofers together and get a amp which is rated to equal to that say a 600 watt amp, thats how i have always done systems and have never blown anything except a head unit.

Those RMS at 150w. So what you want is a 300w amp. Mono or 2 channel doesnt matter. Mono would be easier. My suggestion for those subs would be a ZX300.1

What ohm and rms are the subs? This is what you use to choose and amp, not anything else. Also do you know if the box you have is the correct airspace or is it a prefab? Also how much do you have to spend, and do you have a brand you like in particular?

alot of amps these days support 2-4-8 ohms as alot of subs are made in that range so depending on how you jump the woofer it would be one of those ohms, unless you are running 1ohm big stuff or 0 ohm monster sytem.

Well you are also correct ^^^ The other thing is wether or not it is a dual or single voice coil.

i am unsure about the the specs on the subs. i got them used but i know they work. from doing a little research, from picture matching...

this should be all you need to know pretty much get a mono amp that is 300rmsx1 at 2 Ohms then you are good to go.
