OK, so the previous owner thought it was cool to put purple tint around the car, well now that i got it, it looks horrible and bubbles etc etc.... How do i get this stuff off, ive never messed with it before????

Use a steam gun, they are cheap at Walmart, and it peals off fairly easy. Don't use the razor on the back window or you will mess up the defroster.

I just did this 5 days ago. Bought a steamer from walmart for $25, took me 20min to remove the tint from my moms 2001 Galant. Very easy, and leaves no residue.

If you go to a local parts store, grab a razor blade scraper, it's alott easier to scrape the windows when working with a Handel, Next you want Lott of paper towels and a can of wax and grease remover, it eats the gunk right off with alittle rubbing with the paper towel. Just don't scrape the HATCH WINDOW at all! you will ruin the defrosters, the one has to be done all by hand.

Im a window tinter...our "off" is a mix of 1/3 91% alcohol, and the rest distilled water, with a small squirt of baby shampoo. (im sure any mix of alcohol/water would be fine)

after peeling the tint, (using a little heat on the outside of the glass to help peel) spray the mix on the glue, and it will turn it into a gel. scrape away!

for the hatch in my DSM, i took a blade (between the defroster lines) and the rough side of a kitchen sponge over the lines....took quite a long time. LOL

Purple window tint with bubbles is just old cheep window film, make sure you replace it with a lifetime warrenty film.

...and having someone professional, like me LOL, do it. its NOT as easy as people think!

if you dont feel like scraping use a steamer. it basically reverses the process you have to go through to apply it. which means no residue!

In order to skipp the razor blade idea, I'd go with the walmatt steemer, or you can purchess a. Product called "future clean" and it removes all the sticky gunk left behind

My gf's Sentra had this Gawd awful Blue tint. I Used Walmart.com: HAAN HS-20 Deluxe Personal Sanitizing Steam Cleaner: Appliances and got it nice and clean took about 20 minutes for the back window, and had no problems pulling the tint off of the defroster lines.

1. Steam, while using one of the terry cloth pads
2. peel slowly, while continuously heating the glass (i did this from the inside)
3. clean up any remaining adhesive residue/ bits of tint with the alcohol/water mix, and a razor blade.

shouldn't take long, but makes a mess, and it gets pretty humid in the car.

Steamer is the way to go. :thumb:

I've had to take tint off before and came off pretty easy that way. Years ago on one of my cars that I tinted myself someone scratched the back window with a ring or watch and did some pretty big damage to the tint.

I sprayed the window with ammonia/water mix (I think it was 75%/25%) and let it sit for a while. While this was going on, I went out and rented a steamer. Came off pretty easy, but I regret not covering the car enough as ammonia got in places where the plastic wasn't completely covered.

Id suggest getting a tarp or think plastic and taping EVERYTHING off if your going to do it that way. There was only a little bit of tint "glue" left on the windows which came off pretty easy with Windex and a scrubby sponge.

For the back window with the heat strips use nail polish remover and a paper towel. It removes anything glue and saves the heating elements.
