How to get rid of scratches without repainting entire car

hey,

i got a big issue here and need a cheap solution.

A couple days ago My friend wrote "im a ### ricer" on my hood (my car was sitting under a tree, i guess sap was on it) just by rubbing it.... the next day I get my car washed.... it didn't come out.... I'm naturally spazing. I tried to wipe it off with a rag, nope nothing... I realise somehow it was scratched (well it faded the paint i guess) ....

aside from that , when i bought the car it had white paint rubs (the previous owner obviously hit something)
Will buffing get this out?
If buffing doesnt work are there any ways to match the paint and redo it without having a bubble or a noticable 'scar'???? please please help

there are products you can buy at any auto store to remove things like bugs, tar, and tree sap; start with that.

If there are scratches in your paint, use turtle wax polishing compound (It's in a white tub with a green label, but the paste itself is white). You may also want to try Meguiar's Deep Crystal System: Paint Cleaner (Step 1).

Really there are dozens of good paint care products out there, those two are just some ones that stick out in my head as really nice ones. Really I'd recommend using step 1 and 2 of Meguiar's Deep Crystal System. Step 1 being the Paint Cleaner, and step 2 is the Polish.

EDIT: of course you want to finish it all up by putting down AT LEAST 1 coat of wax, because you obviously hadn't done it in a while

Clay Bars are great for tree sap Iam guessing its still on their and stuff got trapped in it leaving some of the letters behind. If that doesnt work just get it buffed and be done

I dont know about you but Id be pissed if one of my friends did that. Make him pay for an entire paint job I heard lots of good things about wetsanding.

also you can use an adesive remover which works in my opinion a little better then that tar and bug wash remover

I'd try everything I could before trying to wet sand my paint...

Wetsanding is a really good idea I would try some heavy rubbing compound first tho, someone keyed my car 2 weeks ago "not deep thank god" but deep unough to where you could feel the scratches and I wet sanded it and used turtle wax heavy duty rubbing compound and now you can't even tell it got keyed...... Wetsanding is awesome, just make sure u don't sand 2 much off and you'll be fine..

I've discovered that 3M Machine glaze and Hand glaze works wonders followed up by a good sealer and wax. I found a really good write up a while back, Ill see if I can find it again.
