I am tring to get a 1995-1999 non-turbo mitsubishi eclipse and I was wandering if you have any pointers on how to convince my dad to get me it. :D

well judging by your name, you probably want to go fast so why waste your time convincing him to help you get a non turbo.

You could always get him a beer, mow the lawn, re-tar the roof, take him out to the titty bar, etc.......shit how would we know he is your dad. You should no best.

you could tell him that its essentially a neon that just looks a thousand times cooler. It would be reliable and get good mileage

Tell him that when you turn 25 the non-turbo will have much lower insurance premiums than the turbo. My dad bitched constantly about my non-turbo insurance with a clean driving record & academic discount until I took over payments & insurance at 21.

Use the neon quote.. be sure to tell him it's easier to rice-out an Eclipse than a Neon. Same engine as the Dodge Neon/Stratus but looks much better. Insurance companies seem to think the looks cost more too. Since the car's value would be less than a 2000+ Celica GT, base RSX, or Scion tC the insurance on the Eclipse RS/GS would be lower..

Hold out on your dad until he buys you a GSX, becasue you'll regret driving that GS/RS n/t when you see those GSXs driving around..

(I want a GSX so badly.. )

But I still love my baby, slow as she is. :dsm:

Earn it. I have worked to death for 3 years now and finally found a gsx worth buying. Let your dad see that you diserve it and all is well. :thumb:

How bout this.......Don't be a spoiled ***** and earn the money to buy the car yourself! :thumb: Both of my talons i've paid in full with cash..my cash...it feels so much better, and you really learn respect quickly for your belongings.

This is the problem with the internet...

Some kids can't even talk to their own father anymore because they've lost their social skills from sitting alone in front of a computer all day.

If you can't convince your dad about the car you probably don't need it in the first place.

Ahhh I def. agree with those who said earn it yourself. Nothing was more gratifying than driving my DSM home the day I paid for it in cash, all my cash that I had worked 2yrs for.

Yes, pay for the damn thing yourself and don't be spoiled. I'm only 16 and I already have enough of MY OWN money that I earned by working to buy myself a 97-99 GS-T/GSX with low miles, I just need to wait until i get my license. Psh I found a 99 GS-T with 50k miles for $9,400 and I am about to buy it..not my parents. Trust me, it'll feel much better to pay for it your self. Oh, and if your daddy pay's for it, guess what? It won't be your car, it's your dads. ROFL

and if it's your dad's car then when you wanna put all your "pointless racecar crap" (common phrase amongst parents) on your car, he won't let you saying it's his car and he will let you do what he wants done to it.

Where as I bought my 2g with my own money, and i just went out an burned a lot of money on it..nothing the rents can do! :thumb:

YEH SAVE YOUR DAMN MONEY!!!!! its so much worse haveing to look at it and say i wish you were turbo. Plus if you do wana make it turbo its hard as HELL .....untill your registered you cant post in the N/T forums just read, its annoing but still helps.Trust me take the money he will pay for that gs like 2500 is that and keep it and make 2000 more and you can buy a gs-t and 3 or 4 more you can buy a gsx for like 5 or 6 at lowest. :thumb:

Looking at speedmonster's profile, it seems that he already has a 97 GST. Maybe he wants a more fuel efficient car that is still sexy?

Well then..*scratches head*..there should be no problem? Sell your gorgeous GSX and buy a cheaper GS then you'll have extra money to play around with.

If you already have the car, then whys it hard to talk your dad into getting the same car over again..only this time for a good reason.

My advice would be to save and earn your perfect car. Otherwise be prepare to be daddy Lil b**ch because whatever he says goes otherwise NO CAR for you as punishment. Most of us would love to get a free car by our parents but not with these rules...I save money for months till i bought my car and it worked out great...I only abuse my parents money when is my Bday :thumb: ,but even then i only ask for a small car part.
If you are going to have your dad buy you a car i say be patient and look for a nice GSX or at least a GST.
