How to get 2g shifting like NEW car?!

Hey guys, i'm going to be replacing my stock clutch soon, with an act2100, and I was wondering what other steps I could take while the car is apart to help insure my car shifts like new again (clutch fork, etc)

I just put in ACT 2600 with new fork, throw out bearing, pivot ball. I also have new clutch lines (not installed) and I was thinking of putting in new shifter cables. Once I break in the clutch I'll let you know if it turned out ok.

Any other suggestions from anyone?

What is usually involved in a tranny rebuild? I don't have a ton of $ to spend but i'm curious

That would be your quickest/cheapest/easiest way to get your car to shift totally different. I think its one of my favorite mods under $50.00.

as for rebuilding the tranny depends on who you have do it and what you have done. ive got a friend who runs 9s and builds dsm transmissions for 800 i basicly got a shep stage2 trans i got new bearings seals syronros upgraded shift forks and rails i could of done doubble syroncros but didnt need them depnds on what you do

I personally rebuilt the trans steal braided clutch line act2600 clutch new shifter bushing inside the shifter 7 each for the dealer then i did the bushings on the shifter cables new shifter cables and the bushings that go into the shifter base inside the car as well. my car shifts pretty good but i think it will be even better once i put new motor mounts in 2 of them are destoryed

I could do a basic rebuild on a good core for about $300. I think the biggest gains I have noticed are in proper shimming, my trans shifts smooth as can be at 7500+ rpms without double syncros. When I am all broke in I will be shifting at 8500-9000 rpms.

Most people tend to go with the knock-off B&M short throw shifters sold on Ebay for about $30. I believe it's identical but needs a little modification to work. There's a big ass thread about them. For me, a short shifter, ES plate bushings, underhood bushings and BG Sync did the trick. I have my throw at 35% btw.
