How To CLEAN UP the San Diego Forum

Ok, in order to better facilitate our SD mini thread... this is what we should do:

1. Make a for sale thread - combine everything thats for sale in the multiple threads or make a new one
Rules for said thread:
NO WTB QUESTIONS.... PERIOD
--This thread is to sell things, if you want to know if they have something, ask in PM or we can make a WTB thread for San Diego

2. WTB Thread... could be optional, but from all the WTB questions asked, it could be useful...
Rules for said thread:
ONLY WTB QUESTIONS.... PERIOD
--this thread is for all of those that require something for their cars.... such as needing an Oil pan or a Shortblock/longblock
--easiest thing to do is just post a looking for (said item) and then if you have it you can PM the person...

3. Make a meet thread - We need to start coming up with meets more often, so we should utalize this for the up and coming meets
ONLY MEET UPDATES
--We should keep the random little stuff about meets to its own thread... such as toss a meet into the meets thread, and then start a thread in regards to questions or ideas for the up and coming meets

4. Start a BS thread
FOR BS PURPOSES ONLY,
--Basically it would be like this thread, just not as long

All main threads like the For SALE or the WTB thread or the MEET thread could be Stickied, as long as they were kept clutter free and cleaned up... Let me know if this is a reasonable request or set of ideas?

On the link forum they have a "Pay it forward" thread. basically it is the WTB thread for misc small pieces that people wouldnt mind giving away for free such as small gaskets, bolts, connectors, and brackets.

I know Im in the works of making a best offer thread for all the crap that I have accumulated over the years so any forsale threads should be kept separate so that the OP's can update them when things sell. If you put all the for sale ads in one thread everything will be lost in numerous pages of individual ads.

In regards to that, if you have a for sale thread in San Diego, it would mainly be us in SD, and we would still be able to Edit them when needed, we could limit it to one post per person, and just go back in and edit if something is sold, or if something is new on the list....

Was just considering it an easy place, instead of going to all the different threads, just go in to one, and look through the peoples posts of everything they have.

Only having to go through say one post of yours, and see everything their, not seeing what i need, scroll a little further down and see it from say Augsustin, would not be such a bad thing

we used to have a good lil thing going on where we had meets like every other thursday or something, what happened? back in the good ole days. when javier was around, and isiaiah and Rene, and Rigo etc etc

Yeah i hear yah Kris.... or instead of sleeping on the couch, you get to continue sleeping in the bedroom, but you dont get talked to and you get the cold shoulder for a week.... :shudder:

dang Kris, i didnt know you had it that bad man. im sorry. thats not right though man. she should understand that you should be able to go out and associate with the guys every now and then.

I'm going to ask Ludachris for Mod permissions in our sub forum and see if we can't make better use of it, like he wants. So we've got a...

- SD Hangout Thread
- SD Parts For Sale (No WTB)
- SD HELP! Tech Discussion (1g/2g/VR4)
- SD Meets (I think a thread would be used more than the calendar feature since we don't have many)​

Then "sticky" them so they stay at the top of the SD forum for easy access to new members in the area as well as making it easier for us to find, too. If we do this though, and Chris approves, I don't want any bitching if I moved a post because it was in the wrong thread.

It should keep the "clutter" and "virtual meets" we have to the SD Hangout Thread. Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I don't have regional forum mod priveledges. Hopefully it will change though, I sent Chris a PM about the above suggestions.

Chris would appreciate it if we used our SD Regional Forum just like you'd use the main section of the site. We've become lazy with our posting habits here, using a single thread for everything we've talked about the last few years. I like everyone posting in the SD Meet thread we had because I was subscribed to it, seeing all the updates. It is possible to subscribe to new posts in the SD Regional Forum, which is what we'll have to do in order to keep up with new posts here.

I ran the idea by him to at least have a stickied SD DSM'r Intro Thread, that way we can all introduce ourselves and possibly encourage new DSM'rs to do the same. I met a guy on North Island a few weeks ago that had a '95 AWD and he had been looking around Tuners for months, never created a profile though. I think that if we had a San Diego specific intro thread it might get guys like that to sign up so they could post and introduce themselves locally.

This is a really good idea. I had been on hear countless times before I made a profile, and when I did it took me a long time to find a thread active with other SD DSMr's.
