So what happens when you get a dsm sitting with a busted window with a drivetrain worth of parts sitting for a year and a half before somebody decides to buy and fix it?

A big greasy dirty mess!

What should i use to clean this freakin thing? Whats a good carpet cleaner or anything that will get all the grease, dirt, and grime out?

Oh goodness. Im in your position as well. Except I had a tranny with some fluid still in there! Some of the fluid spilled and the smell of tranny fluid wont go away! I used a lot of febreeze and that got most of the smell away. Any carpet cleaner should work to clean the carpets. I find that letting the carpets dry out in the hot sun works best to get rid of the smell.

Apparently the really caustic brake cleaner (think 3M) is the same stuff dry cleaners use. I've used it to get out stains before. Unless they are really deep I would put it on a rag and 'dab' the stains, not spray it directly on.

And be sure the windows are open.

I use some Resolve and some Zout for some month old stains but, I don't know what you'd do about years and years of them, LOL. Also, if you can take out the carpet, do it. You never know what you'll find under the carpet. You can also clean it better outside of the car.

i took the hatch area carpet out and cleaned it with a parts washer LOL. i used a bissel green machine for some of the rest and it got a little bit out but there are some really bad stains on the back of the rear seats and some other areas on the front carpet.

Maybe some degreaser that wont harm the carpet? i dunno, ill probly try some of the other things mentioned and see how that works :laser:

I have used the Bissell Little Green Machine with lots of success. It cleans with hot water and a cleaner and vacuums the cleaner out. Works really well on grease and ink stains. :thumb:
