curious on what o2 housing to use. ported stock, tubular, external dump? what are the benefits/dissadvantages of the external dump? etc......

I believe that with an external dump you need an external wastegate on your turbo. I didn't check your mods list so I'm not even sure if you could put one on. A friend of mine has one, and at WOT its sounds mean. I think that most people tend to go with ported O2 sensors, I'm not sure of the benefits or disadvantages of ported vs tubular though. Hope I could help a bit.

What are your goals?

A ported stock will suffice for most applications, but upgrading to an EvoIII wouldn't hurt. You'll never really need anything larger than a 2.5" o2 Housing, and an EvoIII will get you pretty close to that.

An external dump will be very loud, but some people enjoy it. Its all up to you, what your willing to sacrifice to make your car fast, and how much you enjoy talking to the person in your passenger seat.

As to what AVW0516 said, you don't need an external wastegate to dump externally, they do make o2 housings that dump internal wastegates.

I think the part about dumping the O2 is wrong. I think you're still on the T25 ( like me) and most guys would go with ported or evo III or you could buy an O2 dump housing and be all loud and nasty :notgood: not my style but hey....

I'm sure some one will flame me so i'll spell moderateor wrong.

A ported Evo III 02 housing will be more than enough for street/strip goals, but if you're building a High boost aplication then you should consider a 02 dump, for better flow, but its not street legal as you may already know. A tubular 02 housing like the ones victory performance sell work excelent with big turbos and they're still street legal. thats if the rest of you're exhaust is...

A few buddies have 02 dumps, they do the job just fine, personally I don't like how loud they could be, also they dump alot of heat near the radiator. So unless your car is Track use only I'd stick with a recirculated 02 housing.

I have a tubular if you will, 3" stainless steel o2 eliminator on my talon. It's set up for an external wastegate (HKS 40mm) but it is recirculated, and does *not* dump to the atmosphere. External dumps sound pretty cool, but they get old pretty quickly.

Until you are ready to go to an external gate, I'd just go with a 2g, or Evo3 o2 housing and port the shit out of it. Buying a tiny-ass SS o2 housing from SSautochrome (or even a quality vendor) really doesn't make sense, unless you want bling, and/or external dumping noises, IMO.

I use the Buschur ported EVO3 and it flows plenty, enough for my Holset HX-35/40 which is 73lbs./min. capable. mark

If you go with tubular make sure it is exactly what you need. They flow very well but there is no room for porting on a tubular and some turbos have a slightly different wastegate hole. I ran into this with my HC 02 housing and my Bullseye turbo. Luckily the wastegate on the Bullseye is huge and I'm running high boost anyway. There is a thread somewhere with a link to a guy who makes custom 02 housings as well.

Flame on... I use an SSAutochrome O2 and I love it! No cracking and it mated to the top of my 3" downpipe perfectly. It measured 2.5" @ the turbo and 2.75 @ the downpipe. It is not an external dump either. Plus... it only cost $75 shipped!

How long have you had it?

It's been my experience from the many years of making housings and receiving feedback from customers that a tubular housing will nearly always outperform a stock or ported piece. I've had people who have taken their ported EVO housing off to try our housing and still pick up two tenths on the strip. This result is the same for nearly everyone who goes to a tubular housing.
i also have a ssautochrome and it has been on for 2 months so far and it still looks and workd fine. the only thing is when i changed my stockone to this nice looking tubular one, i did not notice all that much of a difference. i know it is ssautochrome and most dsmer's hate it, but for the price it was a steal i think mine was like 75 shipped as well. it looks really nice, almost to nice to put on the car. it did take some porting of the holes for the 4 holes to line up to the housing, but i used a dremel and it worked fine. but to tell the truth i did not feel a difference between the tubular and my stock o2, then again i have a really restrictive exhaust, not anymore. cutout at the first bend really soon... ;)

I've had mine on for about 2 months now too so not too long. I can't vouch for performance either as I did all of my exhaust at once and I'm still on the stock T-25 (supporting mods first ;) ). But it does look great under the hood and mine fit perfectly.

I have the RnR 2.5" O2 dump housing for an internally gated turbo. Doesn't fit at all. The dump is located right where the IC piping would go. So I had to cut it so for now it is just dumping right on top of the first IC piping coming off the turbo. I am going to have to pay someone to fix it.

Thanks guys for the info. I knew there was more to it than just sticking one on the car. I might just go with that SSautocrap o2. Ive been looking at several parts from them but the mixed reviews and LOW prices sort of scared me away. I mean if they charged more for their stuff I would be less suspicious if you will. Man thats ironic to say. But most of the time if its too good to be true........you know the rest. but on the other hand the only real proof I have seen on their bad products have been on Honda's. And even then I'm not sure if it was real. Lot of he said she said going on these days, and businesses being deceiving.

All the stuff said about ssautochrome, wasn't a lie. it all happened. haha. but the o2 housings that that make don't look too bad. i don't know, buy it and try it out and tell us how you like it :thumb:

What size downpipe flange did you use with the SSautochrome O2 housing? Its not 2.5 and its not 3" so do the bolt holes line up on a 3"?

Look into NS Fabrications (www.nsfabrication.com) tubular O2 housing, the best if you ask me. They're priced great and much better than most I've seen. I got the internal dump version which is 2.5 inch mated perfectly with my downpipe. Also, it has studs on the O2 rather than a bolt that connect it to the downpipe which is stock like. The external dump version extends far down enough that it doesn't blow torch anything in your engine. Quality is great and priced at around $130 I believe, can't beat that. (Damn, I should get paid for that endorsement).

The flange on the SSAutochrome O2 housing has slotted holes to mate up with a stock downpipe(with modification to the O2 housing) or 2.5"-3" downpipe.

He regularly has them on Ebay. I just bought the rerouted one from him last week for $250. The quality looks pretty good for what I paid. Of course, though, it just so happens that he has that same o2 housing on ebay right now on special for $200.

You must have paid the "Toonerz" price. He's had them listed on his site for under $160 for ages now. ($155 right now for a dumped or internally routed piece.)

The NSF units look pretty good, and the pricing isn't too bad, although I'd buy before Andy at 122 first.

I've been running a dumped O2 for ages now, and I will never go back to an internally routed housing. Since I've had a dumped O2, I'venever had boost creep.

Besides, I like the "WTF??" look that people give when the dump opens up. :thumb:
