can i just change the front ball joints? or do i have to get new arms?

You have to get the upper control arm. The lower joints are replaceable i believe
Mitsu doesnt have a part number for the ball joints I believe, I think they say they need to be completely replaced, although plenty of us just change them
They will need to be pressed out and pressed in. You can do it with the control arm on the car, but its hard. I just jack the car up and take the arm off, and I would change the bushings at the same time.
