how to change ball joint

can i just change the front ball joints? or do i have to get new arms?

You have to get the upper control arm. The lower joints are replaceable i believe

You should just get new lower control arms. Oreilly sells them for dirt cheap and they take 10 minute to install.

Mitsu doesnt have a part number for the ball joints I believe, I think they say they need to be completely replaced, although plenty of us just change them

They will need to be pressed out and pressed in. You can do it with the control arm on the car, but its hard. I just jack the car up and take the arm off, and I would change the bushings at the same time.

Just bought 4 for my talon, I have the part number available from Moog:
MOOG Part # K9617

Yea just buy the whole control arm, they are cheap and easy to do. If you buy just the ball joint you wont be able to press out the old ball joint and press in the new one with a 2 ton press machine, and you'll end up just paying someone else to do it. Plus then you'll have fresh bushings on the control arm too instead of the old cracked and dryed out ones.
