I just pulled my tranny out the other day (99awd eclipse), I noticed that the oil seals on my transfer case are leaking so i bought both seals. Anyways if anyone could tell me how much oil goes in the transfer case i would appreciate it...and is it possible to just use regular gear oil...I lost my book, and I am in the process of still trying to find my book with this info. If anyone could help me out i would appreciate it. Thanks :dsm:

i am not sure of the exact amount. I just get it up in the car and ready to go and fill it up until it pours a little back out. You should be ok with some good gear oil, but I heard that shock proof works very well.

I use heavyweight shockproof in my T-case.

Off the top of my head I thought the T-case took 1.5 quarts and the rear diff took .5 quarts.

john, I think the transfer case takes like half a litre, and the rear diff takes like 900ml.
litres and quarts are similar in measuremnts
