How much knock is tolerable?

How much knock is tolerable? im seeing around 5 counts max, i understand to tune for no knock! But will 5 counts kill the motor, i know it will retard timing a couple of degrees but still being at 19' with 5 counts is that still tolerable for stock internals?

depends on who you talk to. SBR says thier drag car made the most hp w/ like 15+ counts of knock. I personally tune for around 5-8....trust me you'll feel the difference, but as i said, it all depends on who you talk to. Btw, i put about 25k HARD miles on my motor w/ 5-15 counts of knock and my lowest compression number was 158.
