Fixing Rod Knock...How Much?

I plan on fixing my rod knock once I get sum available funds and a quick question. What would the average cost, considering i bargain shop and get the cheapest possible parts without sacraficing quality, be for getting all the required things to fix it. I plan on doing it myself as I have the knowledge in taking apart and putting motors back together. Also, would there be any machining needs when fixing this problem?

Well, literally if it is good condition without excesive wear (the crank and rod of that specific cylinder) all you have to do is:
jack the car.
remove oil pan.
Loose the rod bolt.
push the piston up a little bit.
remplace Rod bearing of that specific cylinder.
and tight everything back againg. (right torque)
seal the oil pan and you should be good to go.

BTW if you are sure about the rod knock don't make it worse by driving the car.

Please correct me if I am wrong. and I know I skip some details but that is the basic Idea.

is it a 6bolt or 7bolt, if it is a 6 bolt- just do a simple rebuild- low mileage rods- while there out, might as well put on some 2G pistons ( rods will require machining to fit the 2G pistons)- but it will give a 8.5 compression ratio instead of the stock 7.8, then new rings and gaskets- that should fix your problem- and a minor HP increase too
- if its a 7bolt, consider crankwalk, other than that- rebuilds are risky due to the crankwalk factor, but if your certain of absence of this satanic evil- then do a rebuild consisting of either oem parts ( used from classifieds) or dealership- though you will find it may be cheaper to just buy forged internals- machining will most likely be required and blueprinting may also be added if the mileage on the block is high- i would shop - look for some sale parts or used parts with low mileage- i may be new to the tuner but i have hit this problem before- if its a 7bolt- and further problems occur or reveal themselves- consider a 6bolt swap- it would be cheaper than a full rebuild nad may show to be a benefit in the future

Car already has a 6 bolt swap. And as for driving it, i had her towed as soon as i noticed the symptoms and only drove her like 1/4mile to my mechanic to get her checked on.

i did not know that you had it- what internals, maybe you spun a bearing or blew the pin off set- either way- without knowing the exact issue- you will most likely have to tear it down either entierly or lightly - like the oil pan fix

if there is a rod bearing problem then often it will damage the crankshaft, possibly meaning a new or good replacement used crank. It could also be a too tight wristpin. you won't be able to get a ballpark until you disassemble to find the cause of the knock.

Well, I probably wont be able to get her apart until the warm weather hits so I might have to wait for a while. As for the internals, they are stock.
