I'm shopping around for the cheapest liability only insurance policy sold.

It seems the nationwide average is somewhere between $40-$60 per month. Seems high.

List your year, trim level, and other details and let's see what our DSM's cost to insure!

I called up progressive the other day, for my 92 eagle talon and they quoted me $91 per 6 months for liability. I am adding the car to an existing plan, so it'll be cheaper because it's just me on the plan.

My 1g gsx was like 41$ direct general (shameless plug)

And I have a driving recorded 4 miles long

~$36 monthly for liability and comprehensive.

There is plenty of other factors that go into calculating your insurance premium. Deductible, age, gender, area, driving record, credit score, how you pay (monthly, 6-month, annually), multi-car/multi-line discount, marital status, and so on.

I'm 30, male, SW Virginia, multi-car & multi-line discounts, unmarried, clean driving record. It could be better if they also calculated actual milage since my car sits 364 days a year.

I've been to a few online insurance calculators that ask for your average mileage. Do you know of any insurance companies that care how much a person actually drives their vehicle?

I rarely drive mine either.

Mileage is only relevant in determining if the vehicle is qualified as a "pleasure" vehicle. With my policies, because I have a primary car, and because my Spyder sees less than 7k annually, it is considered "for pleasure" and costs a little less.

I get a laugh when I get a letter from them saying how much money they will save me untill they call and the sales rep says "ugh, I don't think we can do anything for you"

It was almost a decade ago....

1997 Eclipse GSX, Red: $24.00/month minimum liability
1997 Eclipse GS, Grey: $23.00/month minimum liability (before I sold it)

Male, 22 years old, more than 8 speeding tickets on my record with 2 suspensions and a revocation.

The secret: Everything is in my mom's name...

Haha. Most insurance companies won't even take me under my name. Once I go two more years without any tickets at all I am eligible for StateFarm insurance and can get everything in my name finally. Why was I such a crazy driver when I was a little younger? Never been in an accident though... I wish that counted for something.

Progressive insures my Ninja 250R in just my name for 28.00/month though...

16.54 a month for full coverage :) joy for having a CDL and a pilot licence in fixed wing and rotorcraft

You have a CDL.. I'm not sure what you mean by this. I know what a CDL is but are you saying having a CDL lowers your insurance rate or that because you have a CDL, you own a semi and that lowers your rate?

I'm getting certified for my CDL next month. My family are farmers.

it depends state to state i think but i get a brake for having a CDL and the other endorsements. i also have my house cars and plane through the same co.

16 years driving. Countless tickets but all cleared. AAA liability. Insurance under my name, address at my moms because where I live car theft is high. Listed annually at 9k miles I cash it out every year when I get my income tax. Some where around 564 bucks a year so monthly comes to $57.

26, married with 2 kids, liability of $30/month through State Farm.

That's with a multicar policy though...

1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD $30/month liability
2005 Jeep Liberty Sport $60/month full coverage
Renters policy $10

Canadians have it bad
26, Brampton, ON
only insure my car through Belair direct
$89/month for liability on my 91

I just spoke with Geico and they quoted me $20.36 per month for state (Nebraska) minimum liability insurance. That's including the $4 savings for paying electronically but not including the discount I could get if I pay all at once. That discount is a little over $1.

The state minimum for accident coverage is $25k and for about .40 more per month I could up it to $100k.

It almost seems too good to be true. A 23 year-old driver on his own policy for only $20 per month!

My research so far (hopefully this helps someone else like me):

1) Geico: $19.36 (paid in full 6-month policy and they don't offer 12-month policies)
2) 21st Century: $45 per month
3) American Family, Progressive, Nationwide all were in the $50-60 range
4) Liberty insurance $74 per month

Im a car salesman and the cheapest insurance thats even negitoble is geico to me. just call and ask for classic insurance i believe it starts at 93 and youll pay even less. If that doesnt work just negotiate ive done in a bunch of times. Tell them your only going to drive to the bus/train like mile away and that your car is in a indoor garage always has an alarm system youll drive it like 5k a year etc. Hope this helps:thumb:

With my evo and a old dakota on my plan, removing my 1g only saves me $8.42 bucks a month. LOL not even worth taking it off for the winter. This is progressive, I'm 25 with a driving record a mile long.
