I need to know what kind of prices can be found for a 420a engine 1996 eclipse.
How much for fully built
How much for short block
How much for long block
How much to buy stuff seperate like the block and the cylinder and shafts an pistons and stuff

I just could use a little info on wht average prices are for 420a

there is a guy in pa (96eclipsedude)that is parting out a eclipse the motor needs a hg but for 200 you cant beat that price

junkyards are full of eclispes with 420a's in them. they can go for a few hundred bucks. they might even pull it out for you.

Yup, I wouldnt pay more than 450-500(for a Stock Block) if i needed it bad enough. you could probably buy the whole car for about $800 and running.

I just picked up a stock short block today for $70 at the local upull I'd say thats not too bad.

I bought my RS running and driving for $550, i wouldn't pay much over a couple hundred at most for a stock block.

Btw all the info you asked for, is easily found if you search. Everything from stock parts, to a cheap boost capable 2.4L swap. All it takes is a few minutes to search.

If your asking I would guess your on a budget? Go look at cimotorsports.net horsepowerfreaks.com or howellautomotive.com those are your best bets on aftermarket parts, stock block no more then 400. Dsmgraveyard.com and I think its slowboy.com sell built motors. Check into it, figure out what you want to spend.

I see stock blocks on CL aroudn here all the time for 200-300 bucks. I will be building my engine at some point and going to pick up a spare block and head to do so. Doing all the work at my father in laws shop but i want to have a running car in the mean time.

Depends on alot of things. #1: Whats your Goal? are you just looking for stock, or something to throw some power down?

You want a good built (far from stock) motor? or a thrown together one... Things to remeber:
Your going to pay for what you get aka: You get what you pay for.
Cheap .reliable .fast.. pick 2.

~2K will get you a nice Built short block with nice upgrades. Its not just parts, its machine work too, and good machine work etc..

I posted a break down on buying the new parts and what they cost.. search and you'll find it

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/420a-bolt-tech/438543-can-i-reach-400whp.html
. Alot of people will say "buy used" sure that works too, but again, its about the investment. theres only a few things I would ever buy used.. But if your on a budget then, I dont know hwat to tell you.. You cant ball on a budget, so if thats the case, your Goal should reflect the budget.

Good luck with all these guys:
cimotorsports.net, howellautomotive.com Dsmgraveyard.com and slowboy.com..
Do a search youll see theres alot of negative things about them.. Ive always directed People to steer clear..

My and others (documented) experiance:
-Ci- slow, have scammed and Not knowlegable on 420a
-Howell, a joke.. ships items after months of waiting
-DSM grave yard. good for stock parts. a llittle disapointed how they sell aftermarket stock pistons as somthing that can hold more boost.. its been discussed..
-slow boy.. doesnt know the differnce between 4g6X and 420a..

Like mentioned, Search is your friend. Its in the top left corner ;)

Gl!

Blocks are cheap. Check Craigslist too. That's where I find my blocks. Get machined, spend under $300 each time.

Also check the Classifieds here. Lots of people have stuff that are slightly used. I've got rod/piston combo in there right now. When I parted out my car sold a lot through the classifieds.
