how many psi can i run max on my evo 3 ?

If you got a logger, crank it up until you see your timing being pulled, then back it off a notch or two.

seems like these "how much boost can i run" questions apear every day.. you can run as much boost until it knocks! get a logger

i boosted 29psi on my evo3. not on purpose tho. i didnt see that my WG was unplugged. that thing pulls hard. it hit like 29psi at like 4500rpm on stock 450's. it was tight for a second until i knew something was wrong.

At first I thought he was asking what's the maximum amount of boost that the Evo 3 can possibly produce. What I'd like to know is at what boost level the Evo 3 is out of it's peak efficiency range.

Quite possibly althought this would have to be done on race gas so maybe not...very close to the limit of 550's.

That can be done easy with race gas. I ran rc 550s with my evo. I wouldnt do it on pump thou. The inj duty cycle would be to high. I was at 90% on 21 psi. On 25 psi expect some nice knock. Race gas will work but pump I would not feel safe at all. Put a logger on it at 25 and see for yourself.

If you still have the stocker I'd say no more than 25 is pushing it. Anyway mine runs best at 20. There is no "real" evo3 compressor map to plot it out since Mitsu didn't release one according to SBR. The one on FP web page is the evo 8 (see below) that some people seem to think it is.

i know someone with exact same mods who lives 45 min north of here at 19 psi....

but another friend i have with a gst is running 20 psi on a similar setup and he could probably run more if he tuned it, but then again you dont really hear too many people running their 16g turbos over 20psi.

As far as I know, the Evo III 16G compressor is the same as the Evo VIII. Or at least it is close enough. The VIII is a mirror image of the Evo III, of course.
