From everything that people have told me, and from what I've read on here, 1991.5 and up are supposed to have 23 splines. I just pulled the original tranny out of a 1992 and everything has 22 splines (both transfer case and tranny)
I was worried because I want the double synchro 2nd.
At first I thought damnit this must be a swapped tranny so I looked up the VIN on this link http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-drivetrain/244022-how-identify-90-transmisson-91-a.html
The 10th digit is N so it's a 1992
Then, I thought well maybe someone swapped out the T-case and output shaft... but It's obvious that the case has never been cracked open... I can see the factory white sealant stuff in between the bellhousing
So this goes against what I know about these transmissions. Can anybody explain to me why this is? Has anyone else seen a 92 transmission with 22 splines?
TIA
