how hard is it to change the plastic speed gear in my tranny

i'm talking about the lil plastic gear where the speed sensor goes into the tranny.
do i have to take the tranny apart or what?
we are putting the motor back in mon-tue so i need help asap!!

NOt hard, I pulled my speedo gear yesterday. Remove the battery and battery tray. unplug the speedometer sensor on the back side of the tranny. get a long extension, swivel joint and a 10mm socket. remove the one bolt holding in the gear. wiggle the gear/sensor and pull up.
