how fast is a 2g nt 5spd?

hey guys i got a 96 eclipse 5 spd all it has is an magnaflow race series exhaust and a crappy proflow air filter and traction t\a tires but i have a pretty good bit of section on hwy 51 i run down every day that i can open her up full blast well i just saw a forum were they were saying it would only get up to about 100 or 115 and its n\t well i held mine open for a while and got it up to 130-133mph is that right or is somthing wrong? it took me a while to get there after about 118mph but i was beside a cadillac one night one that had those eletronic speedometers and it matched mine at 68mph so im just wondering if it really is doing that fast and does it have a speed limiter on it? thanks guys.

there's a 420a NON TURBO section for this crap. in case you didn't know that your n/t ISN"T a 4g63t (notice the T for turbo). and 130 ain't bad, bout as fast as your car iwll get tho unless you do a few more things to it.

Not all cars have a limiter, mostsly CA ones do (mine doesnt though.)
Its technically possible to do 150+ in a 2gnt, ive done it and i would never do it again. These cars just wernt made to go that fast.

The only time I tried, i saw 123 mph on my speedo before I ran out of road (and the engine ran out of go).

you should redline in 5th gear around 156 mph... but thats if you have enough power to get there. ive gotten mine to 130 but i ran out of road.

The Cajon pass here, its a mostly straight drop, 6 lane road from the desert, all downhill. I pegged my spedo comming down it. Like i said though, i would not recomend ANYBODY doing this. I had a huge long open road, zero traffic at 3 AM and big balls. The car feels like its floating at that speed, indeed it is. You turn the wheel and you get little to no response. Tap the breaks, and it doesnt do anything. Not to mention the suspension was shuddering after 140 mph or so. (This was before i upgraded the suspension and droped 2").

Dont try this at home folks, it was stupid of me.

dont you love that feeling after you've been on it hard, you go really fast and hit the breaks and its like they dont exist... scary

It just seems like once our cars hit that 118mph mark it takes forever to go any higher. I got to 129mph looking to see if I could hit that rev limiter (no luck) So I'll think I'll boost mine and hit 118+ faster than before.

ran out of road? Umm..well I've had mine up to 140 running to the street races on 435 east/north....it was lots of fun..set it on cruise and just rolled with a couple of 3g's and some vr-4(3000gt)


so to answer the posters question..nnooo you can climb high than a 100..and why not do it

Because it will kill you. Just dont yry unless your suspension is seriously upgraded and you have some real nice tires...

After that...they feel free as long as im nowhere around when you do.

naw man it wasnt downhill at all and it wasnt near the redline either, also it usually is about 2 or 3 in the morning when i go down this hwy and theres not a soul but i know what you mean about the floating deal i need a new suspension but im like you i guess man ive got big balls and they love speed , the tires are pretty decent there bfgoodrich traction t\a's but i just wasnt sure is i was really going that fast it felt like it but i keep seeing people saying theres would only go that fast going down hill but i was on a road that was flat as hell, oh by the way jrichter if thats your eclipse in the pic then that thing looks really good. thanks guys.
