How Do You Get White Lithium Grease Off Cloth Interior?

I was moving some new seats for my car in the garage when I accidently rubbed up on the garage door hinges where a big lump of white lithium grease was...

How do I get this off w/out making it worse? I was thinking of Greased Lightening, but I don't wanna bleach the cloth or anything. Any tricks or ideas?

Ulgh, crap. You want to pick up as much as you can, grab a batch of terrycloth towels at Wal*Mart and try to get them to soak it up with gentle, small-radius rubbing. Then you need to break it down and soak it up, probably with a good spray upholstery cleaner. You might want to ask a detail shop near you how much to have them do it.

Ouch...

I asked a couple of friends, and they had a couple ideas. One guy said to boil water and pour it directly over the grease and then wait a bit and then wipe it up. Decided that wasn't the plan of action for me. Then, another guy recommended Lifter 1, apparently easily bought at Shucks. A little more promising idea to me. Mother recommended Spray n Wash.

Wouldn't rubbign ti make it only worse?

What color are the seats? Just take care of the seats... anything with an emulsifier (Soapy stuff) will break up the grease on contact... Grease is grease, when it comes to lithium. Just take care and spot it first, not scrubbing circles either...

Spot Shot! works great on grease! let sit for a minute dab not scrub in circles it will come out with that.

Yeah, jeeze, not hot water unless you want it melted over a larger area. That's why you try to dab-up and absorb out as much as possible to start with, then go for a solvent that'll break it down without spreading it further.

dawn dish soap in hot water. worked great when i did the same exact thing to the seat in my civic.

brake cleaner will not mess it up.it is close to the same chemical as used at the dry cleaners

If that's true about brake cleaner, you may be even better-off with some of the new MAF cleaner.
But I'd want to test it, I'd still fear it may dissolve the grease enough to just make it migrate like hell.
Dawn is supposed to be the best grease/oil emulsifier, but again, you have the spreading threat. That's why a carpet or upholstery cleaner with a drying/absorbing component may be best.
