How do i set cas timing before starting motor

i wanted to know what the procedure is for setting the cas before starting the motor... i just put in a fresh 6 bolt and i don't wanna mess anything up.. all feedback would be appreciated

Well first of all make sure that the notches on both the actual cam and the cam angle sensor line up, you don't want to put it in 180 degrees backwards. Setting the cam angle sensor is actually setting your ignition timing. You really need a timing light to be doing this, actually you MUST have a timing light to do this. Turning it one way retards the timing turning it the other way advances it. Use a timing light and turn the CAS until you get about 5 degrees top dead center(trial and error), i guess this is the info you are looking for. If you have any questions lemme know.

The MMCD software has it where it reads timing as long as in the key is in the "ON" position. Loosen the two nuts on the CAS, and adjust until the logger reads 5.

i have a 6bolt in my 2g... does this still apply for me?

You can't damage anything by setting the timing wrong at idle. You can swing from full advance to full retard. Just don't go boosting hard if you feel like advancing the timing for fun unless you log and tune or have racegas.

Don't worry about it. Just start the car and do the timming in the normal correct way. Don't use a logger or and other item to read it it wont be as accurate. Just get a light and time it.
