I got my Pillar in. Air/Fuel, Oil Pressure, and EGT. 2 gauges are in. But I can't decide on how to mount it.

Screw's
Epoxy in some clips
Double Sided Tape

Other options? I wan't it to look clean. So no screws on the outside. Share what you guys did.

Thanks

if it came from autometer u should have got fasteners with it-
They are the type used on alot of interior parts. (kind of hard to explain)

Yes it came from AutoMeter. And it did come with these small black push in style interior clips. But on the inside of the pillar pod there is no way to fasten them to it. And the stock Pillar has the wedge type push in clips.

I could epoxy the provided black clips onto the pillar. I was just wondering what everyone used. It's just weired how the pillar has no way of mounting. Unless mine is just weired. I'll post pictures when I get off work.

You are supposed to remove your stock piece, fit your new piece over it, drill holes thru both pieces, install your stock piece, then your new piece and push the interior pins thru both pieces, pretty simple IMO....

those cheap ebay ones don't fit for crap! I ended up using self taping screws to hold it in. Looks ok... but not as factory as the nicer Autometer ones.

Unless the AutoMeter piece is different than the one sold by LoTek at GaugePods.com, I can tell you it is not necessary to drill through the stock piece ... the gauge pod is a full pillar 'replacement' based on what I've experienced. That way if I decide to move gauges, or sell the car one can put the stock piece in and walla - like new.

Now that's sweet.
So the Lotek piece has the wedge clips to attach to the car?
I wish I would've bought one of those instead....

Sorry for the confusion. One still has to attach it using screws, double-sided tape, etc just as you would with the AutoMeter ... I was just commenting on the fact that if you are going to drill the pillar pod (which is one form of attachment) you don't have to ruin the stock piece by drilling it also.

I guess what I'm trying to say is just to drill a very small hole into the interior skeleton of the a-pillar. No one will see it.

Hope that helps.

Okay. Got done mounting mine. This is what I did. I took a little too much time into it though ROFL

I drilled and counter sinked 2 holes near the top of the pillar by the weather stripping. I got some grey flush mount type long screws at parts here at my work (Adams Ford Dealership). And just put those in. Looks like it came that way. I didn't wan't to put a bunch of screw's into it. Since I have to take it off soon anyway to re-do the lines for my oil pressure.

i used 4 little black self tapping screws when doing mine. you can only see one of them because of how far they are to the edges. as long as you're happy though.

I got the ones from GLOWshift, Fit like a Glove, love the look of the gauges though they are a little harder to see during the day(got the tinted ones) they look just badass at night.

As far as putting it in went, i screwed a screw through the new a-pillar into the little white clips left behind from the stock one, worked beautifully, in there snug and left no gaps. Only have Boost and Fuel pressure atm but hope to add a 3rd soon

I originally bought an autometer one that wouldnt stay in place for anything. So I ended up putting screws in it which I thought looked cheap. Then bought one from LOTEK, stuck it right in place and have been happy ever since.

where did you get the LOTEK pod? how much did it cost? did it have the tabs in the back to just fit up there? thanks.

I used four of those little black push clips, two up top and two in the bottom. Lined everything up, drilled a small hole through the gauge pod and the original a-pillar piece, all four holes, then pushed the black push clips through the holes to hold the pod to the pillar. Then just snapped the stock plastic pillar cover back on.
Looks good, it's solid, and you can barely notice the black clips

I just drilled a hole through the gauge pod and A-pillar and put a screw in... doesn't look the greatest but I got tired of having to catch it when it fell on those hard left turns :D

Sorry to bring back an old thread but i was wondering if anyone has any installed pics of a tripple pillar gauge pod ?
I received my tripple pillar from glowshift and wanted to see if possible, what tripple pillars installed with screws look like.
Also how many screws do you guys use ?

I actually got mine already fastened to an OEM piece. So I still have my OEM one and this one with the push clips :) He had drilled through the 2 and pushed a matching circle headed clip through. I believe its the autometer one. Only pain in the but was getting my guages wired because I couldnt get the oem one off the pod without ruining the push clips. Required holes in the back and some fishing.

Hey, I've been looking for help trying to install the glowshift full triple a-pillar on my 96-spyder.....the curve at the top doesn't match the interior of the car and has about a half inch gap where it should be flush with the top window trim.... do i have to heat it up n re-form the top end....or should I be considering something else here??

i realize the LOTEK makes one but i already have this on hand and refuse to spend another 50 and go through the b.s. to try and sell the one i already have.

has anyone tried to make one work on the spyder ? help is much appreciated, thanks!

I purchased one from the RPM outlet and was having the same problem. I used a blow dryer to heat it and reshape it, installed it but it still wasn't perfect. After a month or so got fed up, bit the bullet and spent $40 on the autometer full dual pillar and have been happy ever since, fitment couldn't be better.

thanks for the reply, but i tried the heatgun and got it to mount great w/two screws and i'm very happy w/the way it looks! i'll post a pic or two later. does anyone know if any hardware store carries the type of screw that can be capped? i had to use longer screws than were supplied n of course they wont accept the plastic caps that came w/the kit. shocking.haha
