I'm having a pretty hard time installing these little spring locs in my pistons. I'm talking about the loc that holds the wrist pin in the piston. Is there a secret way of doing this ?

I know I could spend the 90 bucks for the tool to do this, but I dont see myself doing this again any time soon. So is there any other way I can install these without the tool ?

Put one end close to the dimple hole on the piston(this is so that you can take them out easy if you ever decide to later on) and then I used the back of a Sharpe marker to push the other side in and it makes a snap and your done in like 5 seconds... Its actually really easy.. If you are using your fingers then I can see it being a little hard but still its basic stuff man....:|

Yeah I tried a small flat head screw driver but I was afriad of tearing up the piston. I will try the marker way, as I have one laying around from writing bearing numbers down.

It may be easy, but this is my first time building an engine. Thanks for the sugguestion.

Okay, I too had this problem. Here's what I did and it was pretty easy. Just put one end in the wrist pin hole, then push the other side of the c-clip with your thumb so both open ends are being pushed tward eachother and then kind work in a circle from the end thats in to the end thats out. Like magic it should go in. I found that my thumb hurts like hell after the 4th or 5th one but it sure beats buying some tool i'll rarely use.
