how can i test my blow off valve?

remove the recirculation tube and block off the hole where the intake is at. have someone rev the car in nuetral and have your hand in front of the blow off valve if you feel air is coming out then you are good. also you have a stock blow off valve you can barely hear it go off with the radio off.

also, if you've cut the dump tube as a free mod, it will be quieter.

well i got mine working.....for some reason i removed the bov and put it back on now it works again....wierd...thanks for the help anyways...its always good to know.

but in regards to it being quieter if you cut the dump tube...i was under the impression that it would get louder....which would be the reason to do it in the first place, no?

I tried doing this, and when I turn my car on it dies pretty much immediately. What does that mean?

i thought that too, but i cut it as well as doing the $10 DIY hard pipe replacement for the intake and I can't hear my BOV like I could before doing those mods.

i do not know what that means, since when i did it on mine it didn't die and when i had the blitz dd bov on (not recirculated) i didnt have much problem at idle.

make sure you didnt push the recirculation hose back on too far...i think thats what my problem was....

how can you push it on too far? it's only air passing through, how far on the tube is doesn't matter because the air doesn't move any further than the opening in the intake...

the dump tube makes a 90 degree bend up right after the bov...and when i measured the distance the bend was as compared to how far the bov fits into it. It seams like its going way past the beginning of the 90...all i did was pull it out a bit and tighten it down. results were....BOV didn't work...now it does....thats how i came to my conclusion. Try it...you don't have much to lose.. :)
