Hey guys

I just recently got my car out from the mechanic. Engine is running great, transmission shifts smoothly... Besides some alternator problems, everything seems to be going great. However, the alternator problems just threatened my engine. The alternator is not sending enough voltage to the fans, and the car was heating up badly... To the point where I had to stop at the side of the road TWICE just to get home. It happens randomly. Anywho, I'm changing my alternator tomorrow, but even so... I'm very SCARED of overheating the car. That is what happened the first time, and it turned out into a 500+ repair job, [NOT INCLUDING THE PARTS!].

I was wondering, are there any additives, or tips, to keep the run running at optimal temperatures? I also noticed the oil temp getting VERY high as well... I dont have the money for an oil cooler, but is there anything I can do to keep my car running at optimal temps and not harm my engine, or my pocket?

One easy thing with a 1g is disconnect the sensor at the bottom of the radiator. Put a piece of wire in the connector going from one terminal to the other. This will make your fan run at all times. If the car starts to heat up and you get worried you could blast the heater also. This will cool it down some.
