Langley,
I want to know the best way to improve acceleration, like 60' time, on my 93 Laser NA. I'm thinking about getting the ACT 2100 clutch kit but don't want to spend the money right now.
My mods are K&N Filter kit with removed silencer, Hiflow Cat and Muffler with 2 1/4" pipes in between, NGK Plugs and Wires, Michelin non-performance tires though.

Are there ways to maximize the pressure and grip from a stock clutch? Or should I just get the better one?

You can get an exhaust header and a downpipe. I've also read that bigger throttle bodies help you get up to higher RPM's faster. I'm not sure about 1G throttle bodies, but there's people on Ebay that bore out 2G throttle bodies if you ship yours to them. I've also read about the JeepTB mod, which is where you get a Jeep throttle body and mod it to fit on your DSM. You end up w/ a 60mm throttle body. But I'm not sure if you can do it w/ a 1G. Check out www.2gnt.com

1g throttle bodies are already 60mm, so a swap wouldn't help. It is only the 2g's with their 52mm TB that could gain from a TB upgrade. A cheaper bolt on mod for you to consider would be underdrive pulleys. Also changing out your factory intake pipe with an aftermarket one like Injen or making one yourself out of PCV or exhaust pipe. Along with a header this will allow air to come in and get out faster for a quicker throttle response. :thumb:

Like everyone else said, open up your intake and exhaust some more, which will help the engine rev faster, but nitrous is always an option. You don't have to go insane with it and run a 100HP shot, just run somewhere around a dry 50 shot, and you will be very pleased with the boost in power. If i was in your seat, i would buy a wet kit, just incase if i decided i wanted to have lots of fun.... just thought i would point out that nitrous is a very viable option for n/t's

By itself, very true. However with a full exhaust system along with a true CAI, the gains are very noticable. Check out the tuning guide as a place to start. They have everything listed that you will need to start with.

well 2 options for header are pacesetter and the new punishment one. if you order the punishment one specify whether you have powersteering or not, other wise it wont fit.

if you get the punishment header tho get a turbo downpipe from somewhere, punishments is crushbent :(

then grab the translator kit from them for like 230 and a gm maft on ebay for about 60$

your all set to rev faster. if you want to upgrade the throttle body just get one from the junk yard and hog it out with a dremel. a say, 65 or 70mm TB wont be much good if your breathing thru a 25mm hole....

what would u consider "noticeable"? cuz i have a friend w/ a 90 ls integra, w/ cai, headers, and a greddy exhaust (this is wat i know, he might have more). he has about 15 - 20 hp in total. i think dats pretty dissapointin....

I was looking at a Hedman Header and Injen intake. Any other suggestions will be considered.

good luck getting the headman one. when i was shopping fora header they were non esistant. everywhere i find is special order 8-10 weeksstuff. check punishment.

agreed^^^ its got such a bad rap and i dunno why. i cant tell ya how many times i was told i was gonna blow my car up. it doesnt work that way. its fairly safe if used right and you take the right precautions. the only thing you have to worry about is a gang of japanese bikers tommy gunning your car with 2 tanks of nawwwsss in it. but, if you already lost it in a race for slips, it wont matter

i don't want nitrous for many reasons but for me that is not an option i am even thinking about. I want more horsepower all the time instead of with the push of a button.

you watch too many movies, nitrous does not work at a push of the button, you have an activation switch (works with nx & zex kits) and that activates the smarbox to let the nitrous run thru the lines, then its not at a push of the button, its at WOT

^^^ I am in total agreement with miami.
Also a wet shot would be easier on your motor than a dry shot. There is nothing wrong with HP in a bottle, and if all your are using it for is racing anyways, it's good to be able to shut it down while running back and forth to get groceries. Do more research, and if anyone says it's cheating with the bottle, well Horsepower is horsepower whether it's from a snail or a bottle, it took time and skills to install. :talon: :laser: :dsm: :thumb: :thumb:

Red you got a wet kit? By the way thats a new pic in your sig right? Very nice :thumb:

Yea thanks for backing me up hehe, you wouldn't be able to run a dry shot on a 2gnt (unless its a 95) because 96-99 did not come with a fuel pressure regulatator (thanks for the info chris ;) )

I myself have a zex wet kit, awsome kit, easy install...the hardest part is trying ot find a shrader (sp?) valve to hook up the final line for the fuel rail but no one has it

Negative on the wet kit, but talking to you and Gs, you guys seem to love it. I have done lots of research, and both my brother and his bud run 150hp and 200hp wet shots on their LS-1's with no ill effects, the motors seem to love the wet over the dry.
Yeah thats my car in the new sig, just finsished it on thursday :thumb:

yeah, sorry about that. I have never researched nitrous because I have never wanted it. Good to know though.

nice what rims are those? I am lookign to get 17" gunmetal w/ some nice wide tires :D
Stock 16's just painted them up. I have a thread in the Non performance section showing up close check it out
