Well, right now I'm running a FP18G but I really just want to go bigger already. I've had the car for about 3 weeks but know for a fact I'm going to go bigger so I might as well just start looking into purchasing things now. My main question would be what is the best turbo (okay, I know that's vague. what I mean is FP3052, 3065, GT3076HTA) I could run right now with my current set up? Meaning would I need to upgrade to a 255lph pump and get an AFPR before I even think about it? I just ordered an FMIC and it's on its way right now so that's taken care of. I'm not really interested TOO much in upgrading engine internals and 400-450 awhp and a mid 11 second car is my goal.

Also, the FP18G only has about 1,000 miles on it so does anybody know what a good price to sell it for to make it sell fast? I was thinking around 300-400? Anyways, thanks for anybody that can help.

you can potentially go in the 11s with the fp 18g. i was also thinking about upgrading to that first also, but i think im gonna go with the BC camshafts than upgrade turbo than tune. if you dont want the fp18g, im interested!!

To answer the questions, I haven't maxed out the turbo or even come close to it. In fact, since it's been I've only been running 12-14 psi. I haven't turned it up because I don't have an FMIC yet, but once I get that on I planned on going to 20-22. My car is also running pretty rich and I know it needs a tune and I plan on doing that when the FMIC gets here as well. But, I figured if I'm going to go bigger anyway, might as well do it sooner than later :) What would you guys think a reasonable selling price would be?

If you go any bigger your engine and tranny wont last very long. Anything over 320lbs torque on the stock tranny and its gone though more has been put on it and held it wont last very long. If you arent maxing the 18G out theres no point to get anything bigger. Seems your getting ahead of yourself. To utilize anything bigger you will atleast need some type of EMS or AFC larger injectors and FPR.

Motor will be fine as long as you get a good tune. I don't know about the tranny info, but the rest is pretty much what I'd say as well.

Thanks for replying. I've got a Stage 2 TRE transmission, lightened flywheel and new clutch though. I'm sure that can handle the power, but I'm not positive. I do have an AFC (no idea how to use it and ive seen around the forums that if you dont know then dont even try) and 760 injectors as well. It seems people are saying that 400 hp is possible with all of the supporting mods, but what are the mods that I would need that I don't already have? Seems like the car has everything that I can think of? Forgive me if I'm missing something. Just trying to learn as much as possible as this is all knew to me.

As was alluded to, you got plenty of headroom left in your 18G. Get a front mount IC on that beast asap! Then you should be able to push more boost. FP says this turbo doesn't start to sing until you boost up into low 20's or so.

Ya you might be running a little rich because of your injectors are a little too big but a little proper tuning will help alot-:thumb: you have a really great set up man.. Stick with that 18g they are notorious for their potential although they are still internal wastegate.. I might be heading towards that turbo for my GS-T.. If you decide to give it up, go with a .63 A/R 50trim PTE.. these babies can give ya 450 with about 22psi and does not need porting.. they are still int gated though if that is not what ya want..

Your TRE transmission will handle it. I've had mine for over a year now with no problems.:talon:

Damnit I posted a thread asking about tranny rebuilds and noone answered. How are you guys liking the TRE builds?Bout to ship mine out just debating on the TRE stage4 with Quaife or Jacks tranny.

my transmission feels really good man, very smooth. ill let you know more once i turn the boost up past 20 though. but i'd say its a good investment. stage 4 would obviously be better than mine too..I'd say go for it :)

just picked up a pte 60-1 for my car..my set up and goals are pretty similar to yours looking to go mid/high 11's on the stock bottom end...i would suggest a set of cams if you are going with a bigger turbo (I'm running bc 272's), 255lph pump, and if you want the most out of your car i would buy dsmlink, and one more thing to keep in mind if you are upgrading...internally gated turbo set ups tend to drop off (boost) at higher rpm, rather an externally gated will hold the same boost all the way through

If all you've done is run 10-12psi, you'll crap your pants when you turn it up over 20psi. It is a NIGHT AND DAY difference. Your talking more than 100hp difference. Get setup to run the higher boost and see if you still want a bigger turbo. I think you'll be happy for a while anyway.

haha..i love it! once I get the FMIC on do you think it's safe to turn the boost to 20+? I read that on the fuel system and things I have right now that it's capable of 25-28 psi so I assumed the only thing holding me back is the FMIC.

I'd rewire your 190 if you haven't already. The flow rate really drops off past 20psi (ie 63psi fuel pressure) without a rewire. Without a rewire, the 190 will support 125L/hr = 125,000CC/hr = 2083CC/min which divided by 4 cylinders is only 521CC/min per cylinder. So at 521/750 = 69% injector duty at 20psi boost, you'd be maxing out the 190 without a rewire. At 25psi, it drops to only about 105L/hr which couldn't even overflow the stock injectors. With a rewired 190 at 20psi, you are at about 145L/hr which would flow 604CC/min per cylinder and that would be ample. I'd say you could go to maybe 18-20psi safely without a rewire and 20-23psi with a rewire. Of course, you'd still want to log for knock - just because your fuel system can keep up doesn't mean you won't have too much knock.

thank you very much for that response. by the looks of it, i'd probably benefit from just upgrading to a 255 and get an AFPR and safely boost to 25. thanks to everyone else who replied as well, i've made a shopping list from just the information gathered in this thread. ill be buying HKS264/272 cams, 255 fuel pump, and AFPR in the next couple of weeks. Sweet! :talon:

I hope I am not making anybody mad by keeping this thread alive, but I didn't want to start an entire new thread asking the question. Well after the information I got in this thread, I just bought a a 255lph fuel pump and an Aeromotive A1000 FPR. They should get here around the same time as my FMIC. I think i've done all I can with the fuel system, turbo, and bolt ons at this point. I am definitely going to be getting the HKS 272 cams in the next week, would getting the HKS cam gears add any power or extra benefit? I was also leaning toward an Unorthodox Pulley system because it's advertised as 10-18 gained hp. What would the next steps in my set up be if you were all to recommend getting to 400-450 hp?

I don't know about the HKS cam gears, but DON'T get the unorthodox crank pully. You stock crank pully comes with a harmonic balancer, but the unorthodox does not have one. Can you run without a harmonic balancer? Yes, but it is really hard on your engine. The more power you make, the worse it is.

I think Fluidampr makes a good crank pully for DSMs - I'm not sure about any other companies, but I'm thinking there is at least one other. I doubt they are worth it at your power/rpm level though. A good aftermarket crank pully with a harmonic balancer will cost you.
