how bad is it to not have O2 02 oxygen sensors?

Well I found out that I don’t have the o2 sensors install in my car, it looks like the previous owner remove then when he install the exhaust. I will like to know how to fix this, do I have to install new o2 sensor or if I have the computer flash they can disable the o2 sensor so I don't get the check engine light that I have on all day? I am asking this because I am planning to buy a flash 98 computer from dsm chips and if they can fix this with the flash I don't have to expend money on the sensors. Thanks for any help.

You want those sensors...

You will need the front o2 sensor unless you have a wideband that can simulate the narrow band signal or if the 98/99 ECU can be programed to accept a simulated narrow band signal (ECMLink supports this feature). If you can do that, then all you would need is the wideband in the front o2 housing bung.

The rear o2 is not needed but you will throw a CEL unless you have a way to program it off.

you need o2 sensors at least the front one. its not that hard to do. If you are putting in an ecu, then o2 sensor is a piece of cake, its one connector.

The once I don’t have and this is for sure, are the once that are like in the middle of the car let me explain my self better; when you get down next to the car door and you look under the car to the center of it the holes for the o2 are not there and the cables that connect to the o2 sensors are there but they are loose. Now are those the rear o2 or the fronts?

If i read this correctly, what you are missing is the rear o2 sensor. The rear o2 is just there to tell if the cat is functioning properly. I turned the CEL off with DSMLink, not sure if the flashed 98Ecus allow you to or not.

You need the o2 sensors. If the new exhaust has holes for them, put them in and hook them up. It it doesn't have the holes, find an muffler shop to weld in new bungs. Your ECU needs them to monitor and adjust A/F ratio.

Yes I believe you are correct on this, the rear o2 sensors are the once that are disconnect but the holes are weld so there is no way I can install the o2 sensors unless I open those holes. Thank you for you help guys I will check with Jeff to see if they can disable the code for the check engine light once they flash the computer. This are the code I have P0505, P1105, P0136 I think they all have to do with the 02 sensor I have to check.
