How bad could this be? (spark plug electrode broken off) *pics*

This was in the #2 cylinder (from drivers side to pass side). The plug is a Bosch platinum. All of the other 3 looked great, light brown and dry. All of the plugs have unknown mileage (I just got the car today).

I'm guessing this could have been caused by detonation, but this car is bone stock so I don't really know. I put in all new plugs and wires and it runs VERY smooth now. Before it had a little stumble in the idle, but nothing too noticeable. I DO NOT have a compression tester right now so I couldn't check to see if compression is down or not.

Basically I'm just asking - What are the chances that this has caused damage to that cylinder?

well, the peice that broke off may have made it through an exaust valve and passed with no problems or wnt through and chipped the turbine wheel on the turbo or is still in the combustion chamber. i have heard that platinum plugs are not good for forced induction apps. i know they are bad for n2o since i used to run a bottle. hope this helps and wish u the best.(no damage)

If it hasn't blown up by now, then you've apparently skated.

However, it is an illustrative object lesson as to why Bosch Platinums are FORBIDDEN from being used in turbo DSMs.
