hey guys, I was thinkin about some old hotrods today. and I rememberd that my friend who has an old skool nova put Turn downs in a while ago, I remember it sounding loud, but not anoyingly loud.

The way they did it was paint the exaust white from the collector to the muffler, and were the White has stoped burning off, they cut it off, and turned it down ( to aim the exaust twards the ground )

Would there be any benifit to doing it on our cars?????

My dad is an old school V8 guy, and he suggested getting an exhaust cutout long before I read about them on here. A turn down is essentially that, a cutout, or y pipe. It is a great idea on our turbo cars, because, as you ve heard, the best exhaust on a turbo car is none at all. But if you must put a y pipe in yours and leave it open, save the money and just unbolt your exhaust from the cat and run open downpipe. Be warned though, open dp on our cars DO NOT sound like a nice american v8, and it s very loud. Thats why I went with a cutout, because for the street is nice and quiet, and when i want open exhaust, I jsut pull the cable.

yah, I always loved the sound of a Cam'd V8.

I think im goin to run a cutout eventualy. just thought that it would be easyer to make it a turndown, rather then installing a whole new peace of Exaust.

me no understand... plz explain

All I get is cut off and point down at point of where the heat isn't to extreme. Is this telling you the length to where the Backpressure is precise or what?

Right, Well in a Turbo car Theres enough back pressure from the Turbine.

IM not to sure on how much backpressure is needed on a bigblock. I know you need some.

Im guessing since ur cutting it off right after were the heat of the exaust has cooled. ur cutting off un-needed exaust piping, witch gives you MORE back pressure.
