Hot air, hard start. please help

Courtice,
so i took my air can off a while ago. I replaced the intake tube with an aluminum one. Its been about 3 weeks now, but when i try to start my car when its hot it will bog and sounds as if it's running on 3 cyl. BUT if i turn on the air con before i start the car (kicks on the fans) let it air out for about 30 seconds, it starts fine.

I think its my MAF. what should i do :S
did i burn it out by taking off the can?
