:dsm: how much horse power is a factor 1g fwd putting out?? I'm gutting my car with leather interior, so my back seats might be for sale. :dsm:
 
Tossing the rear seats will give you no gains. They weigh like 20 pounds in total. Remember every 100 pounds you take shaves off 0.1 second in the 1/4mile LOL. To have a good gain you have to shave off at least 500 pounds of stuff.
 
so if he takes off 5 things that weigh 20 lbs, since they all do jack shit, he wont improve by .1 second? and also, im not arguing that the gains are enormous, but, the way accelleration works, if i drop 100 lbs it will probably get me a lot more than some of the higher horsepower cars like j sheps.... lbs/hp will decrease a lot more on a low hp car than a high hp car for each lb....

look at those 500 whp civics, they have fast acceleration, but no top end performace because they dont have the power to counteract the wind resistance.. aka at different speeds wind resistance is different, and for a fwd car like his, its a lot more benificial cuz his traps are so much lower....
 
RX7 rims man. To lose weight on wheels pays off. I can't remember what the formula is for power added.
 
You can take the AC out. It weighs over 20 pounds. If you really want to gutt your car take all the power accessories out (eg: Power window motors, power steering, sunroof etc.) Dropping weight on your car DOES help acceleration. Divide the weight of the car by the horsepower. The smaller the number the better acceleration. Now there are a few factors like how well you put the power to the ground through the tranny and how well is your traction. At higher speeds coefficent plays a big role and so on. If your car weighs 2000 pounds and making 250 HP, you will keep up with a car that weighs 4000 pounds thats making 500HP in the 1/4 mile. But beyond that I think the 500HP car would beat you. Thats my .02 cents.

1lb rotational weight is equal to 4lbs non rotational
 
:dsm: the only way someone could fit back there is if they have are two foot tall. What type of bov should i go with? :dsm:
