Hood bumpers

I'd like any good ideas for replacing the 1G hood bumpers. I'm talking about the non adjustable round rubber bumpers attached to the hood. Either some aftermarket solution rigged up to work, or a good method for installing the factory parts.

The replacements that Mitsubishi amazingly still carries are almost as brittle as the heat hardened stock ones and fell apart when I tried to push them in. You can see the parts I'm talking about here (the non threaded ones) https://www.rtmracing.com/xcart/images/D/MIT-HoodBumps1gbig.jpg.

Ok so for the archives if anyone else runs into this:

The best way to get these in is like this- the top of the bumper where it pops into the hood has a flared top that looks like it should push into the hole in the hood. Trying to push and twist will just shred the top and ruin the part. Instead, you will notice the hole in the hood is round and has a small notch at the twelve o'clock position. Get a flat blade screwdriver and ever so slightly bend one edge of the notch down just a touch. You will notice that the rubber top also has 3 notches in it. Gently bend one edge up with the flat blade as well. Hit both with some lube and then carefully line up the two notches and GENTLY thread the bumper in. This worked well and kept the rubber intact. Good for another 25 years
