i got the hks knock off from ebay without recirculation. I was wondering how much it would help my performnce by just going back to the 1g bov? will it really be that much more noticeable?

1. Put the 1g BOV base on a piece of wood, and then put it in a vice and crush the top of it down to the nipple for the intake pressure, and it will hold more boost than any knock off blowoff valve could dream of.

2. I didn't see any MAF or DSM Link in your vehicle profile. Without recirculation on the HKS knockoff, the car will never run to it's potential. It will be rough and over time do a number on your engine.

3. A few people I've talked to have told me to avoid the HKS knockoff bigtime. They've seen it leaking at 15psi after only two weeks useage. Not worth the money, IMO.

4. Use the 1g BOV and recirculate it, or go ahead and get DSM Link or MAFT setup in Blow-Thru if it's the whoooooosh that you're craving.

As a note, DSMLink does not currently support GM MAFs so if you honestly really want to vent that bad, then a MAFT setup would be required.

In short, recirculation is important because while running on the stock DSM MAS, air is metered before the blowoff valve and thus fuel is applied this "reading". Thus, if you vent to atmosphere then you are getting rid of air the computer thinks is going to the engine, and thus causing the car to run rich during those times.

ok cool thanks...why does the recirculation tube help so much?

Well, like said it prevents the car from running rich when it's vented, which overtime can cause your motor to run poor, and even be detrimental. It also helps in the spooling aspect of the turbo being as when that air is released between shifts it helps keep the turbo spooled a little bit quicker.
