When i bought my car it came with a Blitz bov and now i want to change it since i heard an HKS and the Type-s bov before and liked those better. Wanting to know which bov should i get. Should i get the HKS ssqv or the Greddy type-s?

The GReddy-S is recirculated from the get go. No need to buy the kit. The HKS is usually more pricey to flange aswell. The GReddy usually cost nothing to flange on a pipe.

I have it and it works great.

Both are suitable Bypass valves. Just decide which ones sound you like I guess.

Thanks alot for the quick reply. i like both of them just wanted to know which is better to get. Also is it hard to install the bov yourself?

No, it is really simple if you have a pipe that is flanged already for the unit you are using.

get the type s, trust me on this one the ssqv will atract way to much negative attention(i.e. from the cops) I also noticed that the ssqv either likes to be halfway open so that it doesn't close under boost or it doesn't want to open all the way between shifts causing compressor surge.

thanks alot for all the help. i'll be getting the type s bov, one more question would i be able to just directly replace the blitz dd bov with the type s or do i have to get extra stuff with it to get it to fit and do i have to buy any extra piping to recirculate the air.

well you will need some stuff how much depends on the mods of your car currently. Let's adress it one at a time.

no, you will not need anything more than the stock bov return to recirc the bov.
yes, you will need a new way of moutning the bov. If your car still has the stock upper intercooler pipe then you will just need a new adapter flange to fit the type s. I am pretty sure dejontool carries these, if not mvpperformanc.com has them for sure. If you have an aftermarket uicp then you will have to get a new flange welded on or a whole new pipe depeding on what uicp you have right now.

right now i got me an injen intake, apexi n1 dp and exhaust, it currenty (sp?) have a blitz bov, dont have the stock recirculating pipe, and everything else is stock.

i have the greddy type s and i am very happy with it...it goes on easy and looks really good...its a bit of a pain at first to get it to the right adjustment but youll find it eventually...sometimes to get the best result youll have to do the single spring mod and back the screw out but its not difficult at all and its worth it..... plus the sound is awesome:thumb: :dsm:

alright just took a look in your gallery cause i was a bit confused by what you have(we both have silver 97 gst's pretty crazy) anyway, you are going to need to buy either an aftermarket "L" lower intercooler pipe flanged for a greddy type s or you will have to buy an adapter flange that will allow you to bolt the greddy type s to the stock intercooler pipe. go to www.dejontool.com they have both, so either way you decide to go you can go there. Now for the recirc tube uh...you can just use radiator hose or something similar to route it back to the intake pipe.

you could buy a Type S and a new UICP with a 1g/TypeS flange or for a little bit more, buy a greddy piping kit with the BOV included.
Type S and UICP: BOV 195.00 UICP 119.00 = 314.00 from DSMparts.com
Greddy kit on ebay: 279.99 (includes UIPC,LICP,BOV and Couplers) Altezza World Store on ebay.

Thanks alot for all the help. Don't even know what I would have done if I didn't ask for help here in the first place and thanks again.

i would like to know what is a better buy. the greddy type s bov kit or should i get the uicp kit and the greddy type s bov on dejontool.com?

I would go with the kit as well..... I ended up going piece by piece with the I/C piping and payed double the price of the complete kit. If I would have saved the moeny rather then spend what little I had, would havbe worked out better.

i use to have a type S, then i switched over to the HKS SSQV. if u want a sweet sounding bov, then the the HKS is the best... HAnds Down!

p.s. i have a maft in blow-thru form, so that's why i can vent. :thumb:

well i heard that the ebay kit had problems so i decided just to order the greddy bov and an upper intercooler L pipe instead. but thanks for all your input and help

Hey there, I picked the HKS SSQV both for the sound and performance. Just gotto have an GM MAF and a MAF Translator to put on your upper intercooler pipe so you could vent to the atmosphere.

I am not saying that because of the lack of people running the hks in the proper way, I said what I said because the hks is notorious for causing compressor surge...which is very bad.

Greddys will leak over time..its just a fact of the matter. A HKS is hwere it is at for reliability and NO BS function.

F THAT!!!!

Get the TurboXS RFL (Real F'ing Loud)
Friend has it on an EvoVIII, and damn is that thing loud, works great and looks even better.

I understand, this has been an issue in this posts over and over again eheh :) , There also is a very good article about venting or not venting into the atmosphere around i just wasn't able to save it. One of the moderators prolly could post it here, because i'm sure that is the next question.
